John Cooper Works

im considering getting a mini clumbman. im debating on the s or the JCW.

what im trying to determine is if the ride height is lowered or if the suspension is changed from the S to the JCW.

it appears that the JCW package only upgrades the motor and exhaust.

what am i missing?

thanks.

p.s. i also noticed that the gear pattern with the 6 speed is red on the JCW.

Have you already looked at the MINIUSA site? You will get more of the options installed at the factory on the JCW.

yep

i looked at the site.

i'm concerned about the suspension and how heavy the clutch might be. im in NYC and being stuck in traffic with a heavy clutch is horrible.

It has the same suspension as the S. The biggest differences are the engine, transmission/clutch, Diff, and brakes. No need to worry about ride height. The clutch will be slightly stiffer but not that much.

Is there a dealer nearby. You could go test drive one. I just spoke to my dealer today and he said we would have a couple sometime next week. Your closer to the main ports, your may already have some to test. From what I understand according to some reviews, the JCW is as close to a race bred car as you can get and still be street legal. I know that's some hype too, but it will be more car than I've ever dreamed of. Let us know if you like it.

PS There are quite a few threads on the JCW check them out they may help you make a decision.

Go to this link to read about driving a new JCW.
He talks about the heavier clutch.

There are two aero kits for JCW. One is the factory install version and the other is the "dealer" install that can have carbon fiber components. Look at the build they do not look the same. I liked the carbon fiber diffuser and opted for the dealer option. In either case they will be on when you pick it up. It's best to do the builds at MINIUSA and look at which one you like best.

I have driven the new car on two different occasions,I drove it pretty hard. The clutch is basically the same as my JCW and the transmision is smooth. This is a Mini not a truck..You won't find it do be a problem, just enjoy the car..
