Tech Center Lunch - 7/24/08 @ 11am

Howdy boys and girls. Based on the length of the old lunch thread I've decided to put the next one out as it's own thread. Maybe we'll generate more interest, maybe folks will check it out, since it's a new and exciting post. I guess we'll have to see.

It's been requested of me to have another lunch, this time closer to I-25, so I figure we can go back that way. I was looking at a map and thought of a new place to go. Brothers BBQ, they're located literally on the NE corner of I-25 and Arapahoe. Depending on which direction you're coming from it can be a bit tricky to get to, but overall it shouldn't be bad. You cannot turn north if you're east bound on arapahoe, you'll have to circle back in the west bound lanes, plan your route accordingly. North bound off I-25 and westbound on arapahoe will be the most direct routes.

I plan to park in the lot on the East side of the building, next to the patio. Unless it's 105 degrees I'll likewise be eating on the patio, to better appreciate the cars.

Here's hoping that I'll see you then. If you can't come by right at 11, drop by a bit late, it's really casual and just fine to do. Come eat BBQ!

I have tried it, yes, and the food is pretty tasty. The only concern there is that it's not that close to highway access. That was the only complaint about Perfect landing. Not terribly close to the highway (takes longer to get to/from the venue on short lunch schedule).

If folks want it though, I'll not complain, I'll eat almost anywhere. Hows about we discuss it over BBQ on Thurdsay?

Not gonna make it, my matching paint arrived today, setting up the paint booth now and getting ready to spray the transmission mount. I only have 3 days off before MITM, so I need to get organized....

Transmission mount...? Like under the car? Like something only a mechanic under the car will see? If so, I'm not sure why you'd need to paint such a thing. Matching is good, but only if it can be seen in my opinion.

Paint away and enjoy the time off work sir; you've got to get ready for the big event!

It's a bit sad to see our attendees dropping like flies, but there will always be another lunch so no worries. It's not too late, lunch is <looks at time> just under three hours away. Come join us if you can!

No man, the transmission mount the is large silver piece of aluminum on the driver side of the engine, holds the transmission up to the wheel well. I had it white, now it will be body color. In this pic, it is the large white angled piece near the intake that goes up nearly to the strut tower.

Ok, a drunk romanian all too eager to share his life story is not my favorite idea of a good time. Overall it was just kind of wierd.

But before that guy shoewd up things were good. We only had 4 drivers show, and MR Bean left his car at home, to only three cars, but still the time was good.

I'm going to have to look at the schedule and figure out if there's a good date coming up. With MITM and another vacation looming, my weeks are pretty busy until the third week in August. We'll see when something works again.

As always if someone else wants to try and set up a time, feel free to do so.

How about this suggestion for MINI Lunch Club:

  • Friday, August 15th
  • 2:01 pm HAPPY HOUR at SONIC
  • SONIC Drive-In, Arapahoe Rd just EAST of Havana (by the Honda dealer)
  • Yes, this is a late time but it also offers savings on drinks so you can spend more on food.
Any takers?

Glad you had a good time at lunch yesterday, sometimes the smaller gatherings are the better ones, you really get to know people that way

I still have a lot of work to do, but I finished the transmission mount...you can tell I still need to do some cleaning, but I think the mount came out wonderfully

I am up for a lunch towards the end of August. Maybe something like FatBurger off County Line? They have a huge parking lot, or Wahoo Fish off County Line, also a big parking lot. Obviously, it has to be a Wednesday or Thursday if there is any chance of me making it.

Jonathan, wish I could join you for Sonic happy hour, but I will be sleeping then getting ready for Friday Night Shift.

Not me, I'm going to be in Indianapolis that day, though I encourage folks to go if you can.

uh huh.... yes, that engine bay is positively filthy I don't know how you can live with yourself... I think that engine is cleaner than anything on or in my car. I wouldn't worry so much about it, I think it looks just fine.

Good suggestion, that's a great place to hang out. Would the 21st or 28th work out better for you Indigo? Since it's your idea I expect you to be there.

It won't be for long!

Jon - I like the blue much better then the white - looks great! Now you need to work on those washer reservoir covers.

What the heck

SONIC has HH on Thursdays, too, just as cheap.

So if Thursday works better, so be it. All the same to me.

Unless I have a tee time.
