Just got Me'lo...few immediate observations>>
Ellen and I picked up Me'lo yestesday and thought I share a few items other than we really like this car...just plain fun
:
-ordered summer performance tires so it came with Goodyear RFs (manufactured in Germany)
-Interesting item... for the 6 sp tranny noticed some MINIs 'parts origin' sticker noted tranny source from Japan and in our case from Germany
-the hood scoop...some have said the scoop was totally closed (blocked if you want)...ours was at least 50% open area
-turbo/engine bay temps... of course this is a limit sampling since we are in the break in period, but as soon as we got Me'lo home I sampled temps using a Raytek MT6 Laser temp reader:
Turbo housing air side: 151 deg F
Turbo housing exhaust side: 390-431 deg F
Turbo heat shield: 186 deg F
Underhood scoop area: 118 deg F
Have the upgraded stereo and found it MUCH better than we were expecting...actually fits our ears to a tee so I guess it really is a matter of music taste (the base thump thump vs our music tastes which is more of the 1960s R&R to jazz)
Love the color line and chrome line interior... last minute option selection and soooo glad we made those choices.
Now reading manual to figure out all the programming options...lots there to do/learn

Nothing earth shaking...

Interesting. The auto is an Aisin (= Toyota) from Japan but I would have expected all the Getrag 6-speeds to be from Germany.
Congrats and great color choice
Regarding the hood scoop originally it was sealed on the 2007 MCS but MINI opened it up some due to complaints of melting hood scoops from the higher engine heat being generated.

And no doubt, soon somebody here will do it just to prove your point!
Oh, and my scoop inlets look the same, 50% air opening.

Bake a pizza... hell on a turbo you could crispy critter it. When I owned and highly modded Audi TT with a turbo pushing 21 psi++, always amazed me to look at the turbo during dyno testing/tuning and see it glowing white/yellow...looked liked molton cast iron being poured from a blast furnace
And thanks all on the color comments... a few cars can be yellow and to me the MINI is definitely one!
Concerning the scoop...was speaking with a forum vendor and he confirmed that he has seen blocked off scoops within build weeks of MINIs that were not blocked off..as if there was not rhyme or reason as to being blocked or unblocked....too me the more air the better. Will shoot a few pics close up...later though

Congrats on your new MINI!
An FYI: The bonnet scoop grille has been half open since about Feb '07 build dates...not that anyone would know unless they were hanging out at the dealerships back then
[my Feb '07 build MCS had the half-open scoop]
Nevertheless, let's see some more pics [inside and out] of your new hotness!

Now THAT'S what I like: someone who realizes the importance of posting a picture right out of the starting gates.
Congratulations on your MINI--looks great! Have fun, and (as they used to say on Hill Street Blues) "let's be careful out there"!
