Electrical Radar detector in the antenna Base (Valentine)
Radar detector in the antenna Base (Valentine)
So here is my idea, I am not a big fan of having the detector mounted on the windshield. So I was thinking with a little modification wouldn't it be cool to mount the detector in the antenna base? From looking at some pictures it looks like the base is mostly hollow.
Also I don't quite have my car, so I am going on pictures here.
Does anyone have any opinions on if you think it would fit? Or maybe if there was a way to mod the base enough to get it to fit.
They say that the higher the better so I would think this would be a great place to mount it.
Anyone know how to fabricate plastic bases?

hope i helped

Simple answer is no, it won't fit in the base. The V1 is roughly 3.5" wide (IIRC), and the base is like 2.5" at the widest spot and tapers up. You'd need an entirely new base, and raise it up a few inches to clear the slope for an unobstructed view to the front. Unless of course you're thinking of taking the V1 apart, even then, i doubt i'd fit in the base.

Yea I wasn't able to measure but it looked like it would not fit without serious modification. But how cool would that be if there was a custom made base to do this, I want to go the stealth route but the stealth detectors are so darn expensive. Hmm I will have to ponder this one.
