Cool Feature !!

Cool Feature I noticed on my Clubman.
When you are on a up-hill intersection, and you let OFF the brake, the Brake Holds for about 3 to 5 Seconds to give ya time to get your foot on the Gas.
Way Cool huh ?

It Just get cooler, and Cooler Owning a Mini !
I told my Co-Workers that are Mini-Less, this "Easter Egg" and they shrug and say "So" Either they don't get it or are jelouse.
Whoo Hoo...

They are jealous, I have a co-worker that always talked about how he was a SCCA racer in his mazda rx7 and how he loves small fast cars. I get the Clubman and offer him an opportunity to get behind the wheel and experience a great small car. He shrugs and says "no thanks", and then when I tell him I get about 39 mpg he says his BMW gets 60mpg (motorcycle)! He is always one up..now its all about his motorcycle..no time for even looking at the mini.

I guess its Hard to admit you could have had a Cool Car!

Another Cool Feature !!!
With the Windshield Wipers On, I press the button on the Wiper stalk and it speeds up/Slows Down as needed.
Oh, I bet All the Mini-Less Car owners have that feature...Not!

My wife paid $100 for a driving lesson in my car, and she said the instructor spent about 30 minutes teaching her how to do a hill-stop with the e-brake. I told her later he wasted her time because the hill hold feature makes a hill stop a lot easier. The only time I ever did a hill stop with the e-brake was in my old 280Z where it would stall if you took your foot off the gas.

Does this work for both manuals and automatics?

Your MA did not tel you about this feature. Not cool.

My MA spent over an hour going over ALL the Way Cool Features that most other cars do not have.

As for the wiper feature that has been a regular on all BMW's since around 2003-2003 and also some other high end european cars.

I think the wipers are speed sensitive as well. When I turn them on, they go regular, as I slow, or even stop the speed changes, to intermitant. But, I haven't been able to purposely make them intermitant.

Push the button on the end of the wiper stalk to make them go from regular to intermittent.

Rather than move the stalk up or down just push in on the end of the stalk and it puts them in intermittant mode . Manual page 44.

There is also on some models a rain sensor that varies the intermittent wipers according to the amoutn of rain on the window. There is also a setting to adjust the sensitivity as well. Manual Page 45.

I don't think he wasted her time at all as I never rely on the hill start feature at uphill junctions in case it doesn't hold for long enough for the traffic to clear. And I don't like dazzling following drivers with the brake lights while I'm stationary anyway.

So 'well done' to your wife!

dkamp,

Just curious why you are using a Nightfire Red closing graphic (looks familiar) when you state your car is Chilli (sic) Red?

Yes, they are. I think it says that in the manual.

That's part of DSC. I'm not sure, but I think DSC comes standard with all Clubmans. It was an option for 2007-2008 Coupes.

Yup, it's standard. I didn't realize this was a feature of it though. I'll have to see what the car does if I shut it (DSC) off.

While we await an answer from dkamp, can I ask you a question? Why do you make the effort to type "(sic)" following Chilli when a simple deletion of an "l" would've sufficed?

Please don't take this the wrong way, just curious.

[sic] means that the preceding quoted material has been reproduced verbatim from the quoted original and is not a transcription error

Doesn't that activate the rain sensor?

Yes, it's Latin. It means "thus" or "so" or "as such" or "just as that", depending on the context of the Latin phrase. When used to reference a quote it indicates that the quotation is written as-is, and contains a spelling or other grammatical error, of which the writer is aware.
