I check this website everyday. If you spot a MINI, copy the image then host it and post it here! DO NOT COPY THE LINK! The link refreshes.

How I want to do that w/my heavily modded C43/55 ... About a year ago I even looked into the cost of a container ship transport & tourist plates, etc. It really wouldn't be that bad an expense in my mind (like an extra 1st class ticket).

OK.
When I'm ready (as a driver), I'll go.
I cheated and lived there for a dozen years. By the end, I was pretty comfortable with my R53 at full throttle on most any given day.

In 1971, I spent 3 days driving the 'ring. Sadly, not in a Mini but instead in a Triumph Spitfire (not bad, but not great). But those are three days I'll take to my grave as some of the best memories I've ever had.
I see the track has changed some...

I spent a couple days at the Nurburgring last May with my friend who was doing a European Delivery of his new BMW 335i. We did some laps, which were totally amazing. The track is intense and requires a tremendous amount of concentration, especially with the sexy fast cars that are all around you! The cars I saw were indescribable, Lambos, Ferarris, Dozens and dozens of Porshe GT3 RS and GT2s, and stuff I've never even heard of (check out the Gumpert Apollo, it's crazy!)
The best part of the trip was that it got me thinking about the Mini, which I had never really considered before. I saw some of them on the track and thought "hmmmm". I came home, test drove one that weekend, and knew I was going to get one.
Anyway, I'm rambling. If you can go see the Nurburgring, do it. Better yet, sell your house and your other car (the one that isn't the Mini) if necessary and get over there and drive it! Truly the best car experience of my life.

We paid 21 euros per lap, which worked out to a bit over US$30 per lap. You can also get bundled prices, or even a yearly pass, which you lived around there, would be a great investment.
The sell your house part comes when you either 1. Ship your car to Germany, 2. Buy a car in Germany, or 3. Rent a car to drive around the Nurburgring (don't plan on using your frequent flyer miles for that rental!)
Of course, if you just buy yourself a nice BMW and do ED, then the ED discount will pay for your trip, and you're good to go!

No waiting, no lines. I think it cost somewhere around 10 or 11 DM (about $3.50 US at the time) for the whole day -no total lap restrictions- and I had to sign a disclaimer that if I killed myself I wouldn't come back from the dead and sue. Other than that, pure heaven.

yeah, you won't a rental for the 'Ring at the local Hertz -- check out the site I've linked (I think under Planning the Trip and Unfriendly Companies)
