Best product to clean black roof

Hi everyone,

My mini is about 2 weeks old, pure silver/black, and I have some small white spots on my roof and side panels seperating the windshield and door windows that just wont come off. I have tried bug and tar remover, a QD, and no luck.

Any suggestions to remove these and keep the black from swirling and looking good!!!

Thanks!!!

You can try a chemical approach using P21S Paintworks Cleanser or a physical approach using clay.

On this line I've already got a few stains on my roof and bonnet stripes from bird poop and bugs. Dealer said it was waxed when I picked it up but I don't think so. I didn't have time to wax it myself before leaving on a 2 week trip :( The surface is perfectly smooth so I don't think clay will help (tried anyway). Do you think a paint cleaner will help or is it permanent?

It could be permanent. Sometimes bird poo will etch the clearcoat, sometimes not. Depends on how acidic it is and what the bird was dinning on. Bugs can be equally nasty and etch the clearcoat as well. If you clayed and you still see the spots, then try using a paint cleanser or go right to polish and see if you can work the stains out. If not then I'm afraid it may be too late.
For future bird attacks try wiping the gift as soon as possible with a QD and a microfiber. I carry a kit in the MINI for just such emergencies.

I've never owned a black car before, wish I had read up on this earlier.

for areas that clay does not work try some ScratchX and some elbow
grease on a foam pad (foam pad, not cotton pad). and wax afterwards.

for dark colors, i think i would go ahead and promote PrimaAmigo prior
to the wax cause it cleans the surface very well.

clay->scratchx (polish)->amigo->wax

Are these water marks? I had some happen once from the hard water from a sprinkler. On the car I got them off with the 3 stage McQuiers (or however you spell it.) Used all three stages. On the glass I ended up having to apply a ladies face cream, let it sit 5 minutes and wipe it off. It worked.

Good idea about the scratchx, it's done well on some other cars I've tried it on. And yes I'm definitely thinking of picking up some Prima products. We live out in the country so any time you drive at night the cars are caked with bugs.

I hear ya... mud on the boot in the winter.. bugs on the bonnet in the summer!

Still better than catching a deer or other varmint on her nose...
