The Mini member at Rasmussen is Jarid Perry. You will like him. He is extremely knowledgeable and will give you great service.

Agreed! Jarid Is Your Guy!

Talk with Jarid -- he has been a MINI Motoring Advisor for a long time and really knows his stuff. It also helps that he is a nice guy and OWNS his own MINI!

But, be sure to give him a hard time from the rest of us

I always recommend Larry Larson, who was my salesman. Low-key and friendly, without any hard-sell pressure.

I haven't heard anything bad about anyone at Rasmussen. Sales and service departments are both top-notch.

Hi, I can't recommend anyone at Rasmussen myself, although I seem to be in the minority, this is the single worst car buying experience I have ever had, not counting the wait.
Initially, I created 2 cars on the costco website and sent them to Rasmusswen with NO reply, I then built on on miniusa and got a reply from Jarid.
However, whenever I tried to make an appointment for a test drive, I never got a response so I asked for another MA (I didn't feel that Jarid and I really hit it off,).
I was sent to Larry Larson, and was told just to give him a call to set up a test drive, which I did. The call went into the black hole that is voice mail. End result was I have never test driven an 08 Mini, I am relying on 2 test drives of older Mini's I had driven here in Salem, which I loved.

So then I had to order by phone, paid deposit by credit card and 2 days later I received the invoice followed a few days later by the mini owners field guide.
Thats the extent of information I received from Rasmussen, except an email telling me that Larry will be on vacation when my car arrives.
Almost every other phone call went into the black hole of voice mail with no reply and emails went unanswered with the exception of emailing a credit app.
Overall the impression I get from Rasmussen mini is that they are the only game around and you prctically have to beg to be sold one of their cars.

Whilst I share a bit of "hooky's" frustration with Rasmussen (they never replied to my emails and didn't have my booking which I made on their website!), I would echo Sowellman - Larry is very low key, but knowledgable (I grilled him on the 09 convertibles with Turbo's and he knew his stuff).

And finally the NW is having some good convertible weather - shame it'll be over by the time you get your mini...........

Wow. Couldn't be more opposite an experience from pintofhooky than I had. Not a nicer guy on the planet than Jarid, but I don't need to stick up for him. He's a big boy. Well in the metaphorical sense anyway . Sorry your experience was less than ideal, but somehow your experience didn't match up to his reputation.

Me personally, I'd invite him to my house any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Shoot he's let me drive his own GP just to sample it. There's not a bigger enthusiast of MINIs than Jarid. Classics and Neos. He owns both, just like the original thread poster does.

Whatever anyone does, you are spending a large sum of cash on a car, and it's important to be happy with your personal experience. Do what suits you.

BTW, Keith, it was good to see you and Debbie this weekend! Glad you could make it out to the Historics for the heat....errr....cars.

Hey,
It was great seeing all those cars and fun seeing you guys too .

It's Debbie that's looking to get a new MINI, she's going in tomorrow to put some money down and place her order.
Sounds like it will be a 09'.

Till next time,
Keith

Not to bring a thread back from the dead or anything, but I figured this might be a good place to ask....

I know Rassmussen is off of Jefferson (or on Jefferson? can't remember) anyway it's right outta the tunnel. I HATE driving in downtown portland. It SCARES me in my own little car. Now I'm getting ready to test drive a mini for the first time here in about a week. Can someone describe their test driving experience at Rassmussen for me?

During my test drives, they took me up 26 and then into the zoo area. Lots of fun and twisty roads back there. They then had me work my way down into the downtown area and back into the dealership. They want you to enjoy your experience so you will like the car more, so let them know what types of roads you wish to drive. I'm sure they will try to accommodate you as much as possible.

Also, if you are coming from 26, take the exit right before you hit the tunnel. Stay on the road and you'll go right by the dealership on your left.

Oh that's nice! I like the area near the zoo and the Japanese/Rose Gardens down there. That would be a cool place to do a test drive.

I'm a born and raised Oregonian but I absolutely hate driving in Portland. Maybe they'll drive me through the crazy parts to a residential area and then drive me back, LOL!! Anything to avoid downtown or the highway!!!

Yep, same experience here - up the 26, round the twisties up in the hills. Ideal MINI roads really.

If you don't like downtown (it's not that bad, I cycle it every day!) there's no need to go near it.
