Pepe (our clubman on order) will be born on the fourth of July. Why is this important? This is an aniversery gift for my wife for our 5 year aniversary.
7/4/01 started dating
7/4/02 got engaged
7/4/03 got married
7/4/08 5 years and her gift is born on the day

We had been looking at MINIs since 2005. loved the way they handled but didnt love the lack of low end power back then. 2007, loved the feel of the new engine but decided to wait for the clubman for more room (and the kept hoping to hear news of the D comming to the US ). When we saw the configurator for the JCW, and how they stripped down the packages to nickle and dime you, we decided we should order now before 2009. I would be very supprised if there is not a large increase in price for 2009, with MINI sales so strong and orders pushing to the end of the year. We were told we would get our car in september when we ordered it. But the stars came together for us and it should be finished tomorow according to Ask Mini. Time to sit back and wait for the long boat ride over.

Huge price increases? I doubt huge. There are plenty of cars that cost less with similar mileage. Still the gas prices suck.

lots are very empty now if you have gone by, so they couldnt sell as many in june, but lots of orders going in, some people being told their cars will be 2009, October delivery.

Also considering adjustment for the weak dollar, and I believe the factory is already working at capacity.
Law of supply and demand dictates, when demand is greater that supply, prices go up.
I dont think they can make more MINIs quick enough to meet current demand, and looking at the JCW price that came out $7,300 more than an equivalent 2008 Cooper S I configured. I would not be supprised at a $3000 increase, but this is just a guess on my part, I hope I am wrong.

Pepe was built on the 4th and has just been loaded onto the PATRIOT for the trip over. We had a very nice aniversary, bought the wife some Clubman items to hold her over till the new one arrives.........way sooner than I was told originally......never expected a preemie
