How to get my hands on some stock seat material?

The previous owner of the mini cooper convertible that i just bought was a large person and they wore down the outside part of the drivers seat from getting in and out. Is there any place to buy this fabric? What are my options? Thanks!!!!

They don't sell the seat fabric separately, so you won't get a totally perfect match.

You can buy new covers from MINI, or keep an eye out for less-used seats on the Marketplace.

if you bring the car with you to an automotive upholstry shop, they will be able to match it for you. i deal with upholstry shops all the time and never had any issues with any car.

"Match" is a somewhat subjective thing.

For example, I have yet to see any aftermarket arm-rest or vinyl fabric sample where the vinyl is a close match for the original MINI Panther Grey seat material - they will want to "match" it with black, which is not even close to my eye.

When I had my seats modified recently (https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=142990), I chose to use a lighter shade of grey fake-suede for the re-paneling. Better to use something contrasting, rather than trying to match the original and fail.

As a practical matter, perhaps you could find some used seat covers as donors for the material for an auto upholstery shop. Or, of course, used seats appear regularly in the marketplace.

Go to a good upholstery shop. They should be able to order it.

You can always get seat covers for the front seats.

Which upholstery do you have?

Let us know what you decide to do and how much it might be, If you have leather you need to clean and condition it regularly.

If leatherette that's harder to find and repair.

If clothe then you can re-upholster it.

If you're in the upholstery shop already, consider taking the opportunity for a performance upgrade - see link above...
