MY NEW DIY FRONT SPLITTER

my turn to join the DIY front splitter.. splitter is made form some durable plastic use on airplanes. it is very strong....

example #1: i threw it on the ground like 10 time and no cracks or splits.
example #2: my dumb @$$ mounted it using only 5 pop rivets and no adjustable rods and for some apparent reason i drove on the freeway... going about 65 and the mug flew off. what can i do except for being sad....... so the next morning i was driving home and saw it laying on the side of the freeway and decided to stop and pick it up... believe it or not, the plitter was in one piece.. the alluminum center was like a crushed can... blah blah blah.. got home and mounted it with like 20 nuts and bolts and adjustable slpitter to make sure it aint going no where.

I like it, so what did you exactly construct it out of? Where did you get the turnbuckles? I like the polished alum. center. Great job!

BTW, looks like you painted the arches and skirts, what did you use?

THANKS.. it is really constructed from airplane body panels that they scrapped.. my dad use to be a mechanic for united airlines so he just took some of it home...
i painted the arches and skirts with duplicolor... i didnt want it to be black or an exact body match so i went a shade darker..

I like your MINI. It's not quite my style, but it does appear to be well-thought-out and very unique. mmm... tasteful.

Did you use anything to smooth out the texture? Or did the paint cover it completely?

I agree, a how to would be great! The turnbuckles come from the aircraft parts as well?
