I went up to the Dragon last weekend so I could get some fast driving done since I won't be driving like that during the rally. We got behind some professional bike racers and were able to keep up!

Micheal (my brother) is the better driver and he was the one actually able to catch up with the bikers. Unfortunately I was too busy holding on to take many movies...but he has a few of me driving up/down the dragon.

Oh, and I stayed at Tapoco Lodge...it seems pretty nice. Anyone else have other suggestions of where we should stay in April?

 

I liked Fontana very much - however each's draw is very different

Fontana: "where the crowd is", phones, cable TV, it's own village
Tapoco: rustic living, no phones or TV
Microtel (in Robbinsville): the "in-town" experience, close to self-do car washes, grocery store, liquor store, pizza place

Great advantage to Tapoco Lodge, where I stayed this year is the location. It’s only 2 ½ miles from the Dragon. If you want to zoom out for a quick run, you’re right there.

where did you get the shark fin antena?

 

Brings back memorys of when I did The Dragon on the way back from a family vacation in the MINI at the end of June.

Unfortunately, when I did the drive it was after dark, drizzly, foggy, and my daughter was carsick in the back (multiple times).

I would love to go back and do the road in better conditions (although he rest of my family does not share my opinion)

i'm a fan of Fontana Village.....very kool
we stayed in a cabin and all the surrounding cabins has MINI's in the driveway's
it was like a advertisment.....a MINI for every driveway

we been talking about it since we returned from the Miata event in July
we picked October (fall of the Dragon), but haven't set a date.....any ideas?
