Local favorites to eat...
I did a quick look for something like this, but didn't come up with much.
With the never ending search for something good to eat, I figure it would be a good idea to start a thread listing everyones hidden or little-known about places to get some great grub.
So, keep it simple. Give the name, where they are, and general menu.
In Easley, close to where I live, there is a great little Mexican place called La Finca. The Farm, in Spanish, it has your normal named dishes, but they are exceptionally good. Not oily/greasy as some dives can be. Just good food.
Also, in Greenville, there is Stax Omega. Diner type fare, but again, not run of the mill. Good stuffs.!
And, for the more adventurous, there is The Pita House. Middle Eastern cuisine without the formal setting. They also have a grocery store section. If you liked something, chances are you can buy some to take home and prepare it later. Very flavorful!
Enjoy and please feel free to add your favs.

In Batesburg-Leesville, SC (near Columbia/Lexington, SC) - Shealy's B.B.Q. - Family owned Buffet large enough to accommodate a small town and can also cater to a small town - mustard based B.B.Q. pulled pork, fresh never frozen fried chicken (specialty - juicey pulley bone cut breasts - upon request) pork hash, or white gravy, over rice, vegetables, salad and desert bar, soft ice cream...um...um...good! Families and groups travel for miles to experience Shealy's.
Ahh a food post, now you've gone and done it.
Well so far for good BBQ:
Mike and Jeff's - a little hole in the wall place on the wrong side of Greenville, Charlie's BBQ - at the intersection of Pelham and 14. They serve mean lunch and you can smell it waaay before you get there (cash only)
Downtown there's this neat little Italian cafe called Luna Rosa, they serve homemade gelato, paninis, and soups. I'm working my way through the gelato list. If you get the chance try the Italian wedding soup, I've never had better.
It's a little different and certainly not fine dining but Charlie's Steak House, again in downtown Greenville. It's like walking into your grandma's. Everything has a genuine used fifties quality to it. The steaks are no frills but good and the service is down home.
Last one, for now, is Oj's diner. If you want soul food look no further. It's on Pendleton St. This is the best fried chicken and macaroni pie I've ever had, and I'm risking my granny killing me when I say that.
I'll be back with more tomorrow, I like food, who knew!

Mac's Drive-In. Pendleton, SC about 4 mile off of Clemson's campus.
Very small place dont even think about going on a gameday, the 10 bar stools will be taken already I promise. The Menu is all your usual Diner food. The best is of course the cheeseburger steak. Its your usual hamburger steak with cheese, but you must get it with the gravy and onions. The gravy is the best in the world if you ask me. The sweet tea is great as is the service. Its a great atmosphere with autographed photos of almost every famous clemson athlete you can think of. And of course if you're a clemson student, its required that you eat there at least once to graduate
Kovachi's, Lexington, SC.
Best Italian food around, huge servings too.
Shealy's BBQ
I have made myself sick a number of times from eating too much at this place, and I will never learn, its just too good.

I guess we'll just leave off that little place in Kansas????

Hi All,
We really enjoyed the steak house last night. Yum!
Greenville:
Molina's Mexican - on Wade Hampton close to Taylors, near KFC. Family-owned, great food, reasonable prices. They know us well!
Saskatoon - steaks, seafood, and more uncommon meats such as elk, duck, etc. Great sides & deserts too. Across Haywood and a little south from the mall
Guadalajara - another great Mexican place, same shopping center as Saskatoon I believe, or very near it at least.
Irashai Sushi Pub - on Pleasantburg, in what used to be Dragon Den. Most popular sushi place in G'ville, for good reason. I don't even eat the raw stuff but still addicted to their Mussels Yaki - these are a must!
Henry's Smokehouse - Wade Hampton & Church St. My favorite BBQ place, good mustard sauce in addition to the sweet stuff.

Woo hoo, I'm glad this thread went over this well!
Keep 'em coming and we'll have to make a few meet 'n eats there.
OOOOOO, MMMMMMMM, Shealy's is the sh..... well, just awesome food!
Gah, you had to mention pulley bones. Can we make the July meeting there?
Lady G, there is also another Sushi place on Merrimon Ave, before you get into d'town on the right. Can't remember the name, but a hole in the wall for sure. Great sushi though.
There is also Bellagio Bistro on Merrimon at exit 23. The house/greek dressing is so good, you could drink a bottle of it on it's own! Served in a Corona bottle.

I'm there every week. I have my own set of chopsticks there. They gave them to me and they keep them behind the bar!
I found it. Zen Sushi, 640 Merrimon Ave
They may have changed the name, since I have no been there in over a year.
oh yeah, sushi is great. Once you eat good quality, and fresh stuff, it's hard to go back to "cooked" fish.
We'll have to make a sushi eaters only run one day.
But of course, they could always get some noodles, soup or something.

I've been going to Wasabi once a week for about 3 years. I've earned those chopsticks!
Wasabi has great "Japanese steakhouse" type dishes, too, for the squeamish.
There used to be a Wasabi in Easley along 123 but hasn't it changed to something else now, I don't think its a good sushi place anymore.
roadodendron loves sushi and is very selective about it too, though I like only cooked seafood - we're both happy at Wasabi and Irashai. Count us in for a sushi run if its someplace like that.

Eats in the upstate
+1 sushi!
Wall crawlers are great!
Irashai has enough room for a get together.
Wasabi, there are a few of these around. The one in Spartanburg is really good.
Rosalindas (on Pleasantburg) for Mexican with a flair.
Five Spices for Indian food in Spartanburg. Although the iced tea at India Palace is much better.
Anybody know about Korean restaurants?

I think that Wasabi is still the same. It was decent to good, last time I ate there.
There is a new place in Easley, though. Dozo. It's behind Pete's.
Good, but a little on the pricey side.
+1 or Irashai
HAWG, I don't frequent Columbia, so I have no idea.
Weren't you in Clemson for the car show a while back? What took you to Lex/Col area?

Love Rosalinda's, probably some of the best mexican seafood I've ever had!
Doc Chey's - Near the shops at Greenridge, same shopping center as Circuit City, They have a kind of asian fusion thing going on. All I know is the Thai Cocnut Soup must have crack in it.
