GPS for MINI

I'm thinking about purchasing a GPS for my MINI. I do not want to spend a ton of money and I want it small enough so it will mount nicely inside mini. Any thoughts?

Consumer Reports and I like the Garmin Nuvi 350 and Amazon has it for 199. It is not widescreen but will do the job. I beleive the 360 model is what MINI sells for twice that much (360 has Bluetooth built in). Also think someone had a software add on to put the MINI on the unit. Take a look at Garmin site and do some comparing. Plenty of post talking about mounting also.

Kim, I have a Garmin Nuvi 350. This old fart likes it & finds it useful at times, but I'm still partial to paper maps.

You can check it out next weekend at the vintage races.

As far as blue teeth go I have them when I eat blueberry pie.

I bought the Garmin 750, but find I don't need or use the "extra" features. Should have bought a 250 widescreen and saved a bunch of money. I mount it with the suction mount on the speedometer face (I prefer the digital speed display anyway) and I mount it only when I use it. GPSs are hot targets for break-in thieves and I keep mine out of sight when not in use.

Hi Kim,
I have the garmin nuvi 650. The one that you do not want is the one without the flip out antenna. Mine has the Mp3 and sd memory for music photo and I think it will cook diner HEHE.
I like the suction cup on the moon roof. I snake the cord out the back of the lighter jack and thru the visor and up to the moon roof.
all the best,
Steve

You can also mount the Nuvi 350 or 360 to the left of the speedo with the OEM mount. If you buy the Nuvi and the mount and install it yourself it is much less expensive than ordering it from the dealer. See this thread for details:

The lowest cost/best featured is the Garmin Nuvi 260. You can find these on sale for about $200. This model does say the street names which is a real nice feature. I like the size of the screen...it's the narrow one, but is fine for visibility and fits the interior of the MINI quite well.

He (?) totally beat me to it. I have a super cool (courtesy of BBCooper) little BRG/W MCS motoring around on my Nuvi. Everyone who rides around in Lewis loves the installation and is just that much more blown away with the super OEM looking little MINI splash screen and MINI icon. No one believes I did it myself. :(

I had to scroll through the link posted on #15.

Try:
http://homepage.mac.com/WebObjects/F...cty=US&lang=en

There I found all kinds of mini car icons. The logo in this post was the one I copied and pasted as splash screen.

i've a nuvi 360 and love it!
i attached a length of velcro (sticky bottom)
to the bottom of the gps and the corresponding
length of velcro right in front of the tach.
easy on, easy off and the velcro holds
it in place quite nicely.
