HOW TO: Removing the side turn signal grill vents

Based on a few PMs I received form posted photos I thought I'd share the disassembly steps (based on the R53 passenger side) Proceed at your own risk....

First open the bonnet and gently push the grill back slightly then use your index fingers to press outward, once the front pops out and forward the rest should follow easily.

The turn signal is still plugged in, press rearmost the tab at the back of the connector to release the plug.

If you choose to remove the turn signal as well take special care in not breaking the tab as it is fragile. Press the rear tab and slide
white piece out.

The remainder of the grill is 3 pieces, with a washer holding the S on, then more tabs to be removed (I found gentle working with a screwdriver most effective)

Installation is reverse of removal.

Good stuff, I might try it with my S side markers since I replaced them with non-S ones.

This thread was sooo helpful . . . I had to remove my side marker covers as I was applying the checkmate a fender graphics. Tomorrow, I will be swapping out the side marker bulbs for a clear set vs the amber bulbs currently in place. THANKS!!!!

+1 worked on my 08 convertible.

BTW I love how half of you black everything out and half love to chrome everything that doesn't move. Takes all sorts

Sorry to bump a "vintage" thread didn't want to create a new one, but I'm trying to figure out how to remove these vents? Does anyone know location of another thread, I've searched but can't find it.
