R50/53 DSC and tire monitor lights come on??
A few weeks ago while I was driving, both the DSC and tire monitor lights came on and stayed lit. I pulled over and resarted the car....they were still lit, but after about 10 seconds of driving they went off. Didnt think anything of it. Then today the same exact thing happens. Anyone else had this problem of know what it is? God, I dont think my car could possibly have anymore problems.
>>Check your tire pressure, if ok, reset your pressure monitor. (instructions in the manual).
No this is not a tire pressure issue. The DSC AND tire pressure lights come on SOLID. If it were tire pressure, then simply restaring the car would not cause it to go away. This is something different.

Since its a tire pressure monitoring system, the obvious thing to check is the tire pressure.
If the flat-tire monitor thinks it sees a flat (or low) tire, it will also disable the DSC, on the assumption that DSC cannot privide stability for a car that might have a flat tire.
I just completed a 2500+ mile road trip, during which the system came on twice. the first time, I checked pressure, only found a few pounds difference, corrected it, and reset the system. The second time (1,200 mi. later), I found no difference in tire pressure and reset the system.
In both instances I had recently started my parked car and had to complete a long, fairly sharp, turning manuver to get out of my parking spot and onto the road. Since the flat system monitors rotational differences between the tires, I'm thinking that this initial extreme turning, after an engine start, may muddle the system and make it more likely to trigger. Its just a theory, but I haven't had any other problems.
good luck.

Ants,
I had this problem pop up two times early on, but it hasn't happened again. It has been awhile, so I may have my facts confused, but I think this issue is related to one of the wiring harnesses needing a diode. Maybe you could do a search on that and see what turns up. Sorry I can't be more specific.
See ya,
JS

Hmm, maybe not a diode, Ant...

Sounds like it could be steering angle sensor, water on the module, or poorly grounded and strapped DSC module.
Good luck,

I had that too...it IS a tire pressure issue. When the tire pressure is off significantly enough it messes up the DSC. Go check your pressure and add air where needed, maybe you ran over a screw like I did.
