So i went out this morning to head out for some fun, and when i started my 02 S, the car started and died right away. tried to start it again but it wont turn over anymore. tried to do a scan, pocketscan plus keeps coming back error.The check engine light had been on and off since the new motor, clutch, tranny, etc was put in. Only 200 miles on all that stuff and this happens. we would clear the codes fine before but now it wont even give me any help. so i cant find out why the car wont start. anyone have any ideas why it wont let me do a diagnostic check? or what might be wrong? Any ideas would be great!

 

oh, and the car hadnt been driven for 2 and a half years. It was being slowly rebuilt. if thats anyhelp.

 

Is your dash and all that lighting up for the self check? The only thing I can think of w/out more info could be that your ignition switch might be goofed up somehow.

So it won't communicate w/ the scantool and all it does is crank?

first off I would be checking fuel pressure, spark, all the simple stuff like making sure everything is connected. If it's not any of that you may need to pick up a Bently service manual and start doing some serious troubleshooting.

 

Try reseating the ECU plugs. Also reseat the throttle body plug. I have seen that fix similar issues

After that, as he said, check the fuel pressure. Did it crank, fire, then shut off, and does it do that everytime?

it did that the first time that morning, now it just cranks. i will take a look at that this weekend, when i can get into a garage. too hot outside right now.
