I'm expecting my SMatrix to be build within 2 weeks. Topic cross my conversation with one of my friend. What do i plan to do after i picke up my baby.

Where are you going after pick up?
I need to go home and take break from the excitment. calm meself down.

What are you going to do after?
I might motor my baby to stonemountain(in Atlanta) to warm-up. (i found out there is the perfect place to drive around, nice view and open road. Since i still not very familiar how to drive "well" with a manual trans.

I'm curious what everybody else did after they pick up their MINI????

Sure, ya gotta drive easy for break-in, so I too drove home. Then, I planned my first trip: Smokey Mountains National Park. It was fantastic! Next: Eastes Park, Colorado and Rocky Mountains National Park. It was stupendous! And in-between, I've been driving every back-woods country road I can find. It's the best! I've had my MCS less than a year and I've just hit 26,000mi. Next year, I'll try harder!

I might stay in the dealer a ittle longer when i pick her up since i dont know how to drive it much.
I might need couple of practice run before i really take it into the traffic.
Of course, i will 100% sure to pull my dear so-call "know how to drive manual" roomate to go with me.

I drove mine 500 miles home, put it in the garage and got into my old landcruiser and went away to a truck show for the weekend. When I got back I spent the next week on several day trips in the mini.1500 miles in 6 days without leaving NH/VT.

Picked up the MCS in July '02, drove 70 miles home and stopped for Mexican dinner. Got up in the morning, and we drove to New Orleans for a five day stay, nearly finishing all the break in miles on the round trip from No. Georgia. Couldn't keep all the valet parking people away from the car in the parking garage at the hotel... That was back when very few people knew what a MINI is. I've been grinning a looking back over my shoulder in parking lots for 13 months now...and the chuckle factor isn't decreasing a bit.

'02MCS, DS/BLK, Sport, Premium, Cold pkgs, Intake, PowerChips ECU, Alta 15% pulley, Magnaflow, etc. FUN CAR for an old fart!!

I went to Max and Ermas for dinner. I got the first space and just stared at the car from inside.

I picked up my MCS in November, 2002. I drove about 100 miles home - in bumper to bumber traffic most of the way (which really sucked) on a Saturday evening. When I got home I filled it up with 76 premium gas, checked the oil and tire pressures for the next morning. I had a hard time sleeping. I got up at about 5:00am on Sunday, had a cup o' joe and drove south to Laguna Canyon. I took Laguna Canyon Road to Pacific Coast Highway, went Nortn to Newport Beach, stopped at the Wedge and watched the shore break, went to Charlie's Chili at the Newport Pier for a Chili Cheese Omlette, drove thru downtown Huntington Beach to Seal Beach and went inland to head home. It was about 125 miles of pure bliss!! I only wish I had remembered to bring my camera cause it was lover-lee...

It seems the majority of people in here are going home first after they pick up their MINI.

Maybe people do go straight home...to prepare for the next day's adventures!! This was a great question. I am anxious to hear some of the stories. There will probably be some good ones!

GRRRRRRRRRRRR, bad memories.
I cant remember being so anxious in my entire life, waiting for my drivers licence wasnt even that bad.

I picked the car up on a Saturday and I had an 11:20am flight to catch. I drove the car home then took my old car to the airport. I came home Thursday night and my dad put 80 miles on it! I put on 20 going from the dealership and home. Oh well, he lets me drive the Miata sometimes which can be fun.

Well I don't have it yet but...

I'll probably make a run from Princeton up to the Lambertville/New Hope area and then maybe make a 30 mile or so detour up to Philipsburg to stop at my absolute favorite little hot dog stand. Then I'll motor home on some more twisty little back roads.

Can't wait!
