What is my MINI worth?

I am going to be selling my mini soon and would like to get a good idea of what it is really worth. I have looked on KBB and edmunds but was wondering what everyone else here thought. Here are the specs:
Factory:
2006 Cooper S
British racing green with black roof and black hood stripes
26,000 miles
Xenon Headlights
Moonroof
Cruise control
Arm Rest
Anthracite dash and headliner
Alternative factory exhaust tips

Aftermarket:
Team dynamic pro race 1 wheels (anthracite)
BFG G-force TA 215/45/17 with 2000 miles on them
Stud to nut conversion on hub
15% pulley
H&R springs
M7 Extreme Hood Scoop
Euro tray under steering wheel
Dual gauge pod with air/fuel and voltmeter under toggle switches
Autometer boost gauge next to tach
PIAA front fog light kit
Cooper works grill in hood and bottom bumper
Tinted windows and rear tail lights

Thats all i can think of on it. There isn't a ding on the car but there is one scratch on the hood that is about 3 inches long and noticable. The hood stripes could stand to be redone as they have small stains on them from wax. No curb rash on the wheels. Other than that the car is in perfect condition.

I also still have the stock 16" wheels and the stock hood scoop.

what someone will pay

If you decide your car is worth X, and you can't find a buyer

it ain't worth X ....

BlueBook is a good starting place

tuff words .. but based on reality rather than heart and soul...

My 79 ain't worth $5.00 unless I find a buyer. Nor was the 02...

price it where it feels good to you..versus how fast you wanna sell.

People say the market is dead but I sold my house in 2 days...and a Miata in 1. Depends on how long it takes you to come to grips with market reality I suppose.

I think we are in a huge trend towards smaller cars. When gas prices doubled, Mini prices went up. Your car is worth more every day. I would suggest advertising it at a much higher price than you will accept. Someone might be looking for that exact Mini, and that person might be from California and even pay to have it shipped. A few extra hundreds won't make a difference. I don't know what KBB is for your car, but remember there is a delay before market conditions make it into the books. The current Road and Track Magazine, I think August '08, reviews used Minis and puts the price of an 05 MCS in excellent condition at $19,500. That was written a month ago, though. That's a sign. Another sign is how few Mini's there are on Craigslist, or the local trader paper.

If you have a buyer that does not know anything about mods, then you may loose a bit of money. Just remember that. I agree with the post that stated to put it up for sale a bit over what you expect to get. You never know.

It's a double-edged sword, with expenses going up, alot of people are only going to pay just so much.

Perhaps putting it in minitrader.com would help. That is where I found my 05' MCS. It was very much like yours, but with less miles. I paid 21k.

If some moron doesn't give you what she is worth, removed the mods, keep them for future MINI or sell the parts here on NAM.

The reality is that a dealer does not care about MODs when trading. They will either consider Kelly, Nada or Average auction price.....and sometimes engine mods can scare them away as well.

To get the best bang for your buck, maybe you can post your car for sale with a MINI club, and with NAM members here ? Whom appreciate all the effort and hard work you did...

I personally wouldnt buy a modded car, I want a stock car in pristine condition. Mods mean nothing to me except possible headaches and a possibly beat car. I would say most people would shy away from a modded car, and definitely pay less for one. Best bet is to return the car to stock and then try selling it, at least then you can sell the Mods for more money.

x2 - This is very good advice. I think even those who intend to mod a car would like to start with a clean, well-preserved example then pick and choose their own mods.

Personally, I don't have a problem with buying a modified car. I think it helps to show how involved/informed the previous owner was and to give you an idea of what to expect with the car. As long as they're the "right" mods and things have been done well it doesn't scare me away at all. A heavily modified (engine internals, major suspension work, etc.) would merit a more thorough evaluation of the car but if that's what you're looking for it can work out to be a good deal. As has been said, a seller will not get their money back for mods they do and I agree with that completely. For me though, a nice mod list is not going to scare me away from a car, especially if they are mods I would end up doing anyway.

It sounds like you have a nice car there rharris. Again, I think you'd get better input if you posted a few pics of the car and listed your location since pics always help and market prices do vary. You might even find an interested party or an offer from someone who is in the market for a nice Mini (as I am). Best of luck.

OK i will have to post some pictures of it up hopefully tomorrow. I would really love to sell it to someone on here rather than going through carmax or selling it on craigslist. I may just return it to stock and sell it like that if i can't get the what i want for it with people who actually know what these parts are.

To me that is the wisest move. Though there may be someone out there looking for just your car you are limiting your market by having mods (no matter how quality they may be and how well installed). Generally speaking from what I've seen, mods don't return much on resale. If you take them off you can always sell them here on NAM or elsewhere and have that money on top of what you get for the car.

Good luck.

Agree as well. My take is that folks who mod are likely to also drive the cars hard which, while fun, does not make for a car I want to buy.

Noice!

Seems different to me. A softly driven car will last longer and have fewer problems than a car driven hard. Wouldn't want to buy a car that had been tracked for instance. I'd want to buy from one of those middle aged women I see driving minis rather than a kid.

No offense meant, but I consider this is a lightly modded car, and most people wouldn't even notice the difference from a stock MINI. The pulley install is not worth taking off IMO, just because of the labor cost; the gauges are functional as well as the front fogs. Most of the other items are almost "invisible". especially to a non-officianado. Nice wheels and tires add to the value of the car I believe. As a point of interest, my "totalled" '03 MCS with 75k miles got me almost $19k CDN from the insurance company. I purchased an '05 MCS with virtually every option and 25000 miles on it for $24.5 K CDN. These cars really hold their value!
