R50/53 Lowering Springs Cost
Lowering Springs Cost
at my local Les Schwab in Lacey, Washington was going to be $711.00 plus tax out the door. That seemed a bit high to me. The springs were going to be Eibachs, and I asked the assistant manager, what about HR's that you sell. He said he'd have to get back to me about price. His general attitude was snarky as well.
I use these guys all the time for tires and have to say that this single outlet is just not up to par with the rest.
This would include the install, and alignment. I'd really like some feedback from the mini veterans on this site as to the price you paid, and the brand you went with.
Model is a 05' MCS with 17's on stock rims. Not that, that makes a difference.

$711 for a spring install is very high, unless they are doing other work (alignment, hub stud conversion, etc)
I paid $400 bucks including labor to install H&R springs a year ago. Parts were $250 retail (or so). I also went to Les Schwab (they are a franchise, so they can vary in price), but that is a difference I would not expect or accept.

There is always doing the job yourself and then going and getting an alignment. I talked with a few people and in the Lacey/Olympia area you can get them for as little as $69.00 plus tax at a reputable garage.
Thanks for all the feedback on this issue.

Maybe they were including springs and shocks? $700 is way too much.
PS: It's a strong possibility that you will need adjustable lower control arms after the spring install... I got way too much rear camber when I did the TSW springs (on my heavily optioned car with a boot full of tools and emergency gear) alone and had to install adjustable lower control arms to dial back the camber to a more reasonable level. The good news is that it's an easy install you can do in your driveway with jackstands and hand tools. You will want to install the springs/arms and then drive 300 miles or so to let the suspension settle before going in for the alignment.
