JCW air intake kit for '06 MCS

Does anyone have one of these? I was thinking about getting one, but the price is high here in the SF Bay Area. Is there a noticeable difference in speed/acceleration? Does it make the car sound different? Thanks.

Thanks minimarks, I think I'll check them out. Someone told me that although they're easy to install, even if I do it myself, that might be a no-no with the warranty. Is that true?

Call you dealer and ask the warranty question... that's the only place you'll get the "real" answer. But, in general, you should be able to do a DIY install of an OEM upgrade with no warranty impact.

Love mine too.

Yea it's a Mini part so there shouldn't be a problem, but it still wouldn't hurt to establish this with your dealer. It's an easy DIY but I had the dealer install mine (that I got from Outmotoring) just because of the connection to the ECU. Think they charged me about $125.00 to install. Go ahead and order you a K&N filter RU 3130 for it from AJ-USA for about $32.00 shipped and sell the paper filter that it comes with. Good luck!

I'll do that. But, I'm going to have to wait because the service people are all on strike at my dealership.

i did my install and I don't think it's going to hurt my warranty; oem part

i love the intake, it really kicks in around 4000 rpm and screams.
which is why my mpg dropped by 6 a few days after i installed it
i also have the k&n installed instead of the paper.

oh, btw, it sounds TOTALLY stock until you hit that 4500 mark.
i felt a bit of gain all throughout the range, too.

JCW intake performance?

hoonpv, I think I'm sold. I really need to check with the dealer. I've seen directions on who to replace the OEM part and it doesn't look that difficult. I'm hoping my dealer doesn't say something ridiculous like, "Well, since we didn't put it in, that voids part or all of your warranty." I hate it when they do thing like that.

Did you mpg drop because you were gunning it all over the place, or does the intake reduce mpg no matter how you drive?

JCW Cold Air Intake

I have an '06 factory MCS/JCW the cold air intake sounds good and I think it makes a difference, drove an '05 MCS/JCW without cold air. There are two on ebay right now. Cheers!
