MINI Dealer doesn't want my money!?

So I'm all ready to go and order my 08 MCS. I call up John and tell him I'm going to get my stuff together, fax him my order, then call him and place my deposit over the phone. I get to my office, go to the fax machine, punch in the number, and it rings.

And rings.

And rings.

And rings.

No answer. O...k... I try once more. Same thing. So I try calling John. Voicemail. I try calling the main line to see if someone else had the real fax number or could plug the darn thing in. I get pushed to someone I assume is a sales rep named "Doug", who sounds like he's on 14 horse tranquilizers and keeps trailing off. I explain my issue and he says (imagine each of these with a very quiet monotonous voice trailing off) "Let me give you another number." "864..." "213..." "10..." and I don't quite catch the last two digits but I think I did, so I say "So the number is..." and I repeat it. Silence on his end of the line. Then I hear very quiet rustling and a near silent "thank you" right before I hear the survey questions start.

Must be a case of the Mondays. Hopefully I'll be able to place my order at some point today...

Don't I know it! Been trying to get my order placed since 9:00 AM, still no joy. This is a needless delay! MY MINI WANTS TO BE BORN!

Ok, problem resolved. Their fax machine has issues. But now I'm all ordered up and get to study my owner's manual!

Man, sounds like about what my experience was like. Love the cars but sometimes the dealerships can be a bit off. Oh well you got your baby on order, here's to making through the wait.

Perhaps "Communications Breakdown" should be the theme at your dealer?
I've had similar happen to me.
Delighted to hear you placed your order. May time fly until your MINI berths.

You haven't even ordered your mini yet and have it named. I'm on my 3rd mini in 3 months and haven't come up with a name yet.

Hope ya get your car soon....

Well to be fair, I had to come up with this name just before I ordered, but I had two other designs with names... LiB/W MC - "Tristessa" and DS/B MCS Cabrio - "Rocket"... The MCSC was just too expensive, and I wanted at least an MCS, so I built a new one and Siva it was. Of course, those in the know would recognize that all three are Smashing Pumpkins songs, and can probably figure out my favorite band.

My only suggestion for coming up with a name is to think about your MINI's personality, and what kinda of name it would like. I'm sure at some point during your motoring adventures, he or she will tell you (I'm hoping Siva likes his name...)

Seeing as we both ordered the same day, what sort of a time estimate did you get for delivery? I was told 5-6 weeks. I'm sure hoping that's right!

About the same. My MINI was given a preproduction slot that my dealer had, so it went into production the very next morning which might shave off some time. I called 866-ASK-MINI and asked to speak to a representative. After giving him my production number he told me the MINI was already in production and scheduled to be completed by the 18th. A wee bit more updated than the Owner's Lounge that still says "On Order"

I have found with most (not all) businesses, other professionals and co-workers, and my own four kids that if things are "off" it's best to assume something other than gross incompetance may be at work. Generally, that winds up being the case and if I got agitated it was for naught.

Well, congrats anyways.... that's cool you found a name and I'm thrilled for ya about getting your new car. After 3 minis in 2 months, I found the one that is perfect for me and I LOVE IT.

I'm like a little kid with a new toy, I could drive and drive and drive just to drive.... in fact, I think we've got 36 gallons of milk in the refrigerator, some from other states! LOL

Enjoy your new car and get ready to drink lots of milk... .lol.
