Interior/Exterior How to properly paint downtubes?
How to properly paint downtubes?
When I bought my mini, second hand, there were a lot of scratches and nicks in the downtubes, and while installing my iPod and new armrest I scratched my shift ring. Anyway I have found a match to the anthracite interior and have been trying to paint said pieces. The match is tech grey/Dark silver from minspeed. I am running into the problem that the paint is soft. I assume that this paint is an exterior paint so what can I do to make it strong? I was thinking using a clear coat to protect and then a dull to match the interior. Any thoughts? what primer? what clear coat? I have been using testors primer and dull lacquer. The color is great but the paint is so soft that when I go to install it just scratches off. --thanks
sounds like you might just be laying it on too thick, a common problem. just apply multiple lights light coats and give it all time to cure before you mess with them. depending on the week, could be a week or two, even
A lot of rattle can paints need to dry longer then 24 hours. I use rustoleum and let it set a couple of days before replaces pieces back in the interior after painting.
