12v / lighter to USB charger

Anyone found a good one?

I want to be able to re-charge some stuff while on the road -- I've got a few thousand miles coming up, and some really long days doing it, and I'd like to keep my Garmin Forerunner 305 charged while on the go, but my cameras would benefit, too.

Not a usb charger but at radioshack i bought a 12v to a normal plug in that is rated to run laptops and small tvs, I havent used it yet but seems promising. 40 bucks.

I have a couple of different ones, sold as 12v ipod chargers. Griffin and DLO brands. The DLO I bought as a combo that has both a 12v lighter plug and a 120v wall adapter, both with USB jacks and associated cables. So far both have worked with any USB-chargable device I have connected.

Almost everything comes with a 110 volt charger and you have to pay extra for everything else! Just get a small inverter (around 100 watts) at Target or Radio Shack (as previously suggested) or wherever, that plugs into the 12 volt socket. In the long run it is much easier.

I got one at Circuit City that was for a cellphone, don't remember what brand. Just look for whatever adapter and amp rating you need. I needed one to power my Nuvi. It's a whole mess of add-a-circuit to add-a-12V to 12V-to-USV 5V, which I just plugged a USB-to-mini USB cord in and ran up to the mount. It's all hidden now.
But you can find the adapters online for a lot less than the $20 you'll spend at RadioShack - just search for 12V USB adapter.

Send me your address and I'll send you my old one. It was intended as an iPod/iPhone charger but it'll take any USB connection.

W3606 FTW!

You rule.

Gonna throw in the Mini emblems, too? I will need some for my new HMMWV (going back to the bad place this winter). Maybe we can work out something.... PM to follow.

i guess one of the things I was trying to avout doing was going from 12v to 110 to something like 5v. I saw a few options online (I am in Germany) that I could have shipped to my APO, because there's no local Radio Shack within stone's throw.

With help from ol' Mel, I think I have a solution worked out. Much thanks, all.
