Easterniowaminis.org/MinisofIowa.com Maintenance

I am currently working on the Easterniowaminis.org and MinisofIowa.com websites. Their old host died and I am moving them to new servers. Bit of a process having to move the MySQL data and what not to a new host, so if you hit the site and get Wordpress error sorry...Im working on it and will try and get this completed as soon as possible.

Ill update this post once I have fixed all of my sites.(right now I have 9sites down due to this crash, what a bummer)

Ugh, the site is back up, but GoDaddy has its stupid this site hosted for Free by GoDaddy.com thing at the top...I will work on getting a different host setup, but for now at least the site is working... or at least should be, let me know if you can't get to www.easterniowaminis.org thanks...

edit...It appears as though GoDaddys.com hosting that comes with a domain is incredibly horrid and lame...I will hopefully later today find a new host that doesn't suck like this one currently does...wow is it slow as ever..

I pay for the hosting on www.robhigareda.com and www.easterniowaminis.org is their free hosting can you tell the difference....I can...

I use siteground for my familys reunion forum

if you want I could host there or give you site level access if you wanted to host there I think follow up domains are cheaper

I just bought a linux host account from Godaddy to host it and my other sites on. There free ones were just god awful.

In any case all Car/Photo sites of mine are dead for now I guess...Oddly enough it takes a while to upload 5gb of web content to an ftp site...even with an OC3 connection...oh well...It ought to finish sometime today....I hope..haha

Well, I guess everything is back up but my photoblog...for some reason Godaddy.com has a 2mb upload limit on MySQL databases....thats very small for a lot of instance, but in any case they are working on restoring that file..

Well in any case. www.easterniowaminis.org and www.minisofiowa.org have found a new home...

You can also checkout www.midwestcarclub.com which is another site of mine for Midwest auto news..just started that site and we'll have to see how it goes...

So the EIM Photo Gallery is tied to your photo blog? That looks like the only feature that isn't functional yet.

Appreciate the help. It seems like a more responsive server.

Well all of my sites are tied to my photoblog essentially...since they are all hosted on the same server under my photoblog. Everything should be 100% operation now and you should be able to upload new Photo galleries easier now without errors about the thumbnails anymore

The only issue I noticed was old links that you may have used don't work anymore as the permalink structure changed when I had to upgrade to the newer version of Wordpress. Probably not a huge issue but just thought I'd mention it.

For some reason, when I go to the Photo Gallery and click on any one of the seven provided links, I only get a blank page.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? Maybe my server here at work is filtering the pics out for some reason.

Hmm odd, they were working last night when I fixed all the links...

I am thinking there is an issue with the template I am using so I may need to overhaul the overall look of the site with a new theme.....

Time to start a thread requesting your MINI pics for the header!

Logged on this morning, and now all of the picture links on the site are working.

What'd you do to fix it?

Ok changed the theme on the site again, was a bit to narrow before..same theme I should say just modified the code to make it wider on the screen.

Also added a new header image, this one shows us all at Sonic before it was flooded :(

HR, a nice tribute to the Coralville Sonic on the EIM website. Hopefully they'll be back up, open, and better than ever soon.

Thanks. I try and make it look nice as well as give info to our potential members.

If you'll notice I added a bit more space between each posts also to offset them a bit from each other, figured this might help in discerning the topics. I am building this theme mostly by hacking up another one, that it now only barely resembles in look so bit by bit I'll get it to where I want it to be.

Cool! Now were just like the big online poker sites!

Does having a "dot com" domain name in the stable pose a risk to our not-for-profit status? ... (j/k)

I have finally had enough of GoDaddy's crap and am moving my services off of their hosting and Domain registration.

Due to this move the EIM website and MOI website will be down for an unknown period of time as I transfer domains and hosting services to the the new provider. Sorry for the troubles and inconvenience I just can't stand to work with a company that does not seem to care if a customers site works or not. It's been quite frustrating and hopefully the new host can be a more reliable solution.

Thank you.

Oh yes, because of the move anything added after today will not get transferred to the new site.

Also since it just seems redundant I am going to target all MinisofIowa.com traffic to EasternIowaMinis.com instead.

Thanks for the heads-up Rob.

Actually, GoDaddy.com does seem to have one redeeming quality -- their ads with Danica Patrick. Yeowza!

(Maybe a sign of too much attention to advertising and not enough on quality of service...)

Definitely to much on ads and not enough on good service. It's a giant pain to change all of this so I wouldn't do it unless it was just unbearable.. PITA..

Danica Patrick = good spokesperson...very easy on the eyes..
