Our mini has developed a problem with the air ciculation button its always lit so that the cabin air is recycled not fresh and with summer just about here it need to get fixed

anyone have this problem before ?

wife to the car to the dealer one day they said it would have to be replace the whole control unit - if so who has a good used one

and also now the ac doesnt blow cold i could possibly needing a recharge it 5 years old but we only have 56k on the clock and its not like its florida where we run it year round

can i just recharge it with the r134 stuff from a auto store ?

and one more question the sunroof stopped opening with one press and we know have to hold it the entire time while it opens

Chances are if they told you the control unit is bad. It is. Might want to check e-bay for something like that.

As far as using the r134a from the parts store in the cans. Don't do it. You can actually overcharge the system and either make the system run worse due to the increased pressure, or even damage it. I've seen it a lot where I work. I know some people have done it. But I definately wouldn't. Also if you get the a/c recharged they can add a dye to it to see if it is leaking anywhere if it every stops working again.

The sunroof... could be a few things, the switch the stop motor. I would try cleaning and lubing the tracks, that is all mine ended up needing.

 

Do you have the auto a/c ? If so, i think i have a barely used hvac control unit in my garage (<5000 miles).

they didnt look at or test it, they just assumed thats why i was asking maybe i should takeit apart and look at the contacts

Most dealerships do a full diag. on the system if something is inoperative. That is what we do at the dealership where I work, even if it goes over the diagnosis time we quote the customer.

you can email me today so we can get this going

 

try pushing up on the button, like tilt position. do not release the button, hold it down and the sunroof will go through all its positions. if that does not fix it, it may be a software issue.
