R50/53 XM with the HK head unit
XM with the HK head unit
My wife and I just purchased an '03 S. We got rid of our Cooper about 2 years ago and we decided to come back. There's a small problem though, it came with aftermarket XM radio with the HK head unit. Does anyone else have this type of setup? My wife and I are trying to figure out why we can only get 5 different channels to come in. If anyone has any info, please let me know.
My best guess would be the subscription has expired. If one of the accessible channels are 001 and then a skip to 1XX, it is indicative of an expired subscription. If you scan to 000 you can get the units "code" (which you will need if you decide to get the subscription renewed, if this is the problem) --> or just give XM a call and give them the unit # and they will help you out.
Good luck with the MCS!

Thanks. I called the guy I bought it from, who told me the subscription was supposed to be remain active, and he told me just to call XM. XM told me the subscription was cancelled due to the sale of the car. Guess I'll have to activate it separately...
