Recovering Door Arm Rests

Anyone re-covered their door arm rests?
I have a set of beautiful new leather covers from Redline good, and have so far gone thru three staple guns (each bigger than the last) trying to get one that will actually put a staple into the plastic.
This is the current one that failed:

Am I just missing something? Or is the plastic really that incredibly stupidly hard? Any help/suggestions would be very welcomed!

Maybe a pneumatic staple gun? I've used one to drive oversized staples into a motorcycle seat pan (also plastic).

Also have leather armrests from Redline. Redline was provided an install technique where 3M spray glue, rather than staples was used. Robin Cassady also installed the door armrest covers and posted an install technique using spray glue. Check out Robin's website and Redlines as well.

This is for an R56, but may be similar in earlier models.

No need to use staples.
