switching from mph to kph for travelling ?

I can't seem to find a setting in the trip computer to switch to & from Kilometers per hour for our roadtrips up to Canada & unlike every other car I've purchased over the years, the big speedo lacks the second ring w/ metric. Is this something they've left out to make it harder to bring/import a US Mini into Canada, or does Miniusa just not care that some people travel ?

Yes it's a simple conversion and I have plenty of practice, but the MCS does have a tendency to creep above the posted limit ...

I've got an R53, and mine did come with the second ring on the speedo with the km markings.

For what it's worth, the R53 allows changing from mph to Km for some things, on the OBC. The catch? You have to patch in to do it. With help from daflake (here on NAM), who had the cable and the software, it was a snap. My OBC thinks and acts German -- the only thing we could not change from the odometer, which I kind of understand since the car is US spec'd.

I am sure this is not the answer you were looking for. But, if need be, PM daflake and ask him for the details on where he go the cable and software.

If we're on the same page, then all you'd have to do is hit the menu button and I think there should be some options to change the temperature from Degrees --> Celcius and all of that jazz.

Fiddle around there and you'll find the MPH --> KPH

Hope this helps! I'll post tommorow exactly where I found it, I just got home and I'm brain dead

With the standard radio, you hit the menu button, select config, then the first config option is distance measurement. Select that, and twist the **** until it says km.

If you have the NAV system, I don't know it may be similar.

For the US R56 without NAV, it's easy as Btwyx describes. Note that the odometer will switch to klicks, and the small display embedded in the tach will switch to kph if you set the small display to show speed.

The central speedometer will continue to show mph.

While you're there setting kilometers, you can also set mileage to two different metric settings as well, and set temperature to C if you're so inclined.

You can also set gallons to Imperial, if you want your mileage to look even better.

I did that when I first got the 07, I set it to British idiom, forgetting about the milage thing.

Thanks, that's really helpful, I'd assumed such settings should/would be accessed through the OBC/tach rather then the radio.

Can someone explain exactly how to make a US spec car display metric (odometer/temp/mileage etc)?

I will be importing my US '03 MCS into Canada next month and need to make these changes for licensing purposes.

Thanks,

MIke.

FWIW, if you have a Garmin Nuvi, the posted speed limit is displayed on the screen so it eliminates guessing if you have to do the conversion. This was very helpful on the A-bahn. When you're driving 100mph plus, you don't want to start doing mathematical conversions!

On a 03 you will have to go to a dealer.
