Hello friends...

I just thought of a couple ideas to get a message to BMW.

Let's stop spelling MINI with all caps, and go to the old "Mini", as it SHOULD be. BMW uses all caps for their brand, we can respect heritage by going by the real presentation of the word. What do you all think? My British friend Colin mentioned that he thinks BMW's way of making MINI its own brand is daft... they're referred to as "a Mini" or "the Mini" across the pond. I say lets go for it.

And secondly, for you renegade clubbers removing your badges... if you really want to make an impact, we should find the address of some big shot at MINI/BMW and send all your badges to that person/group. I think that would make an impact. Just my $.02. Feel free to PM me with comments if y'd like.

President, Mini NEO

I'd send in my badges. I am making an appointment with a bodyshop to have my little holes filled and painted.

I always liked the completely debadged look, and making it a protest made it all that much sweeter and fun.

Let's call them "cars" instead of MINI's or Mini's or minis.

Let's go "driving" instead of "Motoring"

Let's describe the bonnet as the "hood" and the boot as as the "trunk"

Let's call our Motoring Advisors what they really are: "salespersons"

In short, let's not talk their lingo until MINI responds and realizes that the MINI community beyond their pitiful "Owner's Lounge" is valuable to them even if they don't have their finger in the pot.

I've decided to remove the Cooper S portion from my car, and leave the others - painting over the logos to make them Mod targets. I'd remove the badges, but 1. I like how they look, and 2. since I painted the car, there'd be blue underneath, and it'd be tough to match the colours and paint depths up right. Anyone know of a good place to send the badges?

MINI-USA had better be careful as I was watching Sesame Street today and it was brought to us by the letter M and C. Since MINI Cooper incorporates both of these letters, I'm sure the alphabet council is going to protect their trademarked letters of the alphabet and request the MINI-USA cease and desist using these letters.

I don't think even BMW/MINI is dumb enough to go after the Street.

I like your ideas, Jer, except for bonnet and boot; that stuff waaaay predates BMW. No need to punish the Mini's British heritage just because BMW doesn't play nice. As far as motoring and motoring advisors go, and let's do this let's do that, I don't subscribe to most of their hokey garbage anyway. I've been known to refer to motoring tunes, but that's about it. Yeah, why should I hold my finger down on the shift key for three extra letters? Mini. How about we start referring to "bmw" with NO caps?

Hey, I didn't say anything about getting rid of "bonnet" and "boot"... that was Yucca. I hang around a lot of Brit cars, I always use those terms.
