Which pads? Axxis or Hawk?

Which pads would you prefer? I kindly ask opinions only from people that have tried the mentioned pads. I am changing pads soon, and i would like a second opinion.
I want a pad that lets less dust than stock (i have white X Lites, they are a nightmare to wash), but i don't want to lose even 1% of the stock braking power and strength. I don't use the car for track days, only spirited street driving.
Τhey will be used with stock new rotors.
Waiting for your opinions!

I have the Hawk ceramic on the MINI and am very happy with them. Low dust and about the same stopping and feel as OEM.
However, I have had Axxis on other cars and been very happy with them also.
You probably can't go very wrong with either.

For the love of God don't go with Axxis Ultimate. I had these pads and they were extremally dusty plus didn't grip that well and overheated fast leading to fade.
Switched to Hawk HPS and was much happier. Better initial bite, better heat resistance and much less dusting. None of them are ceramic. Ceramic doesn't really grip that much unless you go with really expensive pads.

If you want basically no dust, a feel that is identical to stock, you don't intend to race, I think you will be very happy with PRB Axxis Deluxe Plus (these are organic pads) will not dust and will not chew up your rotors.

Sorry to promote one of the lesser recommended pads here, but he asked for no dust and doesn't race and a feel like the stocks.

Had the Hawk Ceramics for 25,000 miles - extremely low dust, easy to clean, and no fade, but do NOT have the initial bite of the OEM pads.

I now have CarboTech Bobcats and LOVE them - bite like OEM, only slightly more dust than the Hawks, but still negligible compared to OEM dust.

I have the exact opposite experiences as Rally Maniac albeit a different application (E36).

The HPS were LOUD and cold bite sucked. They also dusted more than I liked. The ultimates were quiet and restored stock feel while dusting less. ABS kicks in sooner with both pads though.

Biggest brake pedal feel improved was found with the solid caliper guides and stainless lines.

Good luck!

Ditto on the HAWK ceramic pads, no complaints. Running them with Brembo rotors on my Jeep.

FYI I tried them on your suggestion, front & rear, and the brakes feel as good as ever. I've not tracked or autoX'ed the car, if so I might swap something more aggressive in but I've nothing but good to say about these for spirited but sane street driving

Oh, yes you're correct on the Hawk. They were little noisy which i didn't mind but were absolutely awesome once warmed up
Axis overheated after 3 miles of canyon road in Colorado

Difficult decision... And if we talked about street performance pads which would you use? I have to say i hate pads that don't have a good bite when cold!

It's not like Hawk doesn't have good bite when cold because it does, but once warmed up, then you really have stopping power. I'd say cold hawk is as good as cold Axxis Ultimate. the only difference is that Axxiss actually gets worse once heated up

I use Hawk HPS Ceramics and I wouldn't trade them for the world, great performance in all conditions, even through extended braking. Not sure about other users of these pads, but I have no squeeking whatsoever. So it's obvious you'll know where my recommendation is, especially over stock.

uh, no. Bobcat 1521 is their street pad compound. AX6, XP8, etc. are each different compounds for autocross/track.

I have been running the HPS for over a year. My daily temps run from below freezing highs in the winter to the 90's in the summer. The cold bite during the winter is worse than the stock brakes of course, but once warmed up are very predictable. During the summer they perform better than stock in initial bite and offer a more consistent feel. They have performed pretty good during my track days, but my track (Portland Inter. Raceway) is fairly easy on brakes.

I am going to go with the Carbotechs ( AX6 ) for my next pad as I believe they will offer even better performance for my driving needs w/o having to change pads for my track days.
