Gas mileage for MCS

I was curious as to how an R53 compares to a R56 in gas mileage. What are you averaging?

the worst i've ever gotten was 26, but since i've gotten used to the car and it's gearing, i've been averaging about 32 but i've gotten as high as 35 all the same mixture of city and highway.

MCS MPG

I will usually average 27, but if I drive very conservatively I get 33.

What fun is conservative? I'll take the 27 mpg in town.

Like Lawman, 27ish if it's severe city-driving, 31 in mixed (mostly highway) to work, 32 in mixed if the freeway has no bog-downs. For 2006 MCS.

20-ish pure city (lots of stop signs, red lights), 30-ish highway driving (60-65 mph), anything over that and it goes down from there. Practically, I'm averaging ~25mpg per tank lifetime, I would surmise.

i average 22.6 miles! most of it is highway driving... the only performance mods i have are a one-ball exhaust, alta 17% sc and 0% crank, jackson racing spark plug wires and colder ngk plugs. i don't drive too spiritedly... but dang!

I'm getting a combined average mpg of 29 after 15,000 miles in my 07 MCS. Most of my driving is in-town.

Keep in mind that the mpg per the on-board computer is always high. For my last 3 tanks, with an average speed of about 39.5mph, the OBC says I'm averaging 25.8mpg. Calculated the old fashioned way I'm getting just over 24.5mpg.

For a 60/40 split highway/city, I average about 28 MPG. On the highway, I can average 31-32, but the mileage drops off appreciably the faster I go. On a stretch of I-40 where the speed limit is 80 MPH, I was doing well to get 29 MPG. (Aerodynamics are a *****, and even worse with a convertible).

550k per tank, 48 litres to fill, works out to 8.73 litres per 100 km or 32.4 miles per imperial gallon or 27 miles per US gallon. Pretty even mix of city and highway driving, lots of short shifting.

thank you all!

I am trying to figure out if its worth it to get this 06 MCS or wait until I can finance a new turbo one. sounds like they get about the same mileage.

You might get as much as 5mpg more in the turbo one and it has more power.

IMO, it should come down to which car you enjoy driving more. Many people think the R53 is more "pure." Others feel that the R56 is more livable for everyday driving. There have been a few people here on NAM that sold their R53 to buy an R56, only to missed the R53 so much that they sold the R56 to buy another.

I just drove uphill from Charleston SC to Columbia, SC in my new-to-me- 05 MCS with the A/C on, cruise set to 71 mph. OBC reported an average MPG as 32.6.

I was at a dealer function last night in NJ and I noticed my OBC displaying 31.7mpg average for my 40 mile return trip back home. My low fuel light was on when I got to the dealership. Then I filled up after I left at a station near by. I reset my odometer and the OBC.

During my almost 3 years of ownership, I've never seen anything above 29.0mpg on the OBC. The only time I saw 29mpg on the OBC is during my trips to Maryland to visit family.

Generally the OBC average figure is about 1 or 2 mpg optimistic from my own calculations. So I was averaging about 30mpg on my 40 mile trip back from the dealership last night.

I know that the mileage usually goes up after the engine is broken in. But my car has 17,200 miles on the clock. I guess my car is a late bloomer . Hope the trend continues.

Anywhere from 15 to 18 when I do all town driving (short 5-10 minute drives). I get 24 if I through highway in there. I get 18 when I drive fairly conservatively. These figures are all done by hand.

My MPG

I've been tracking my gas mileage from day 1. After 48 fill ups (to date), I'm averaging 19.89 MPG. That's mixed driving in So Cal. Lots of traffic to deal with. My best tank was 24.03 MPG. Not anything close to the window sticker but it's still a blast to drive.

My 03 MCS averages 25 MPG (calculated by hand) when I'm driving spiritedly around town... just recently I've decided to conduct a test to see what my maximum MPG is and so far I've averaged 34 MPG from the OBC... realizing my OBC is typically off 3 MPG, I'd say it's safe to assume I'm averaging 31 MPG. We'll see on my next fill up, though, as I'm definitely enjoying the idea of getting 5+ MPG. And for those interested, my driving is typically 75% highway/25% city.

I am kind of With wingnut on this one. I maticulously track my gas mileage, and the best tank I've gotten, (Trying to drive conservativley), is about 24. Which makes me wonder if I have something wrong with the car. But oh well.
