Here's how to remove them...

Open the panel in the rear quarters. Then there are one or two bolts or something in there that hold the light assembly into the body. You can get your hand in there to remove the electrical connector (it has a tab lock, don't just pull the wires). When they are out, you can remove the circuit board with the light mounts in there.

Some have used a film to darken the light housing.

They will be a pain to clean.

Matt

Check your laws on "blacking" or smoking out the lights. It's not legal everywhere.

Pete at Minspeed has a brakelight product and provides instructions for removal of taillights. I'm sure, cuz he is a nice guy, that he would be happy to email you the instructions. Go to his site and call the contact #.

Pete would most likely supply the instructions but they are from GOMINIGO and you can find the one you need here

http://www.gominigo.com/Instructions.html

Use the 07-08 Convertible Brake Light Kit or the Early 05 Brake Light Kit
either one will explain how to remove the light.
