Here's one for you, nix CD, put in XM...

Last time I played a CD was about 8 years ago. My idea... have a professional installer rip out the CD player, permanently mount an XM receiver such as the Delphi Xpress RC (http://www.abt.com/product/31294.html) in that space (if there is enough space there) and hooking it to the CD inputs. Let the opinions begin...

I'm sure it won't work!
For one thing, the place where the CD goes in is actually the stereo unit itself - it's just that MINI moved the controls to the speedometer!

Ah, well that just blows. LOL. Oh well. Perhaps then the silver lip that feed the CD into the unit can be taken off, and the sat. receiver mounted to the surface over it. Just a thought. I may end up sacrificing my CD player anyway just to get the input and it seems stupid to still have the slot load for it. Thanks for the input.

Even that much might not be so easy to figure out. We're talking about an integrated head unit/CD player. You'd probably have to examine the circuit board, identify the DAC chip and determine which pins are the analog out. Then cut the connection and tap wires onto a board meant for tiny surface mount components.
