I just did the same thing on my cooper s....it makes such a difference and gives it a much more aggressive look in my opinion.

I purchased the JCW trim from www.outmotoring.com for about $70. Took about 5 minutes to remove and install.

I think that looks fantastic. I've never modified my present Mini, but I might consider doing that to my incoming MCS.

Good mod IMHO
I did it too, but also had to buy the grille as well because I did not care for my non S's big chrome slatted one

I think MINI would find that they could make a ton more money if the offered black out kits during ordering....but then we would loose a huge amount of fun projects for the car

I bought it from Minspeed (local to me) and paid $68 including tax.
Peter (a great, friendly and knowledgeable guy) at Minspeed said to remove the lower section first since it is attached to the grille then the upper piece which is attached with 4 phillips screws and clips.I removed the 4 upper push pins on the grille then popped both sections out and reinstalled the new trim pieces.Took me about 10 minutes to do.Tools needed: A phillips screw driver and needle nose pliers for the clips in the upper moulding.

Yes I was looking for a more aggressive look to the front end.

And thank you all for your replies.

That would be a cool option:

[Black Trim around Front Grill and Beltline] - Add $150

Looks good. I hope someone warned you- "blackout" is an addiction. Next thing you know, you're pulling headlights out the oven...

Haha soooo true
(though I did go with the heat gun method, I would have used the oven if I had not heard of the heat gun way just days before the mod haha)

So true....LOL

I've modded every single vehicle I have owned in the past and I am just getting started with my MCS.

This is the first car that I have even owned out of the 30+ where the company directly encourages you to personalize the vehicle.Very clever on their part.

And thank you all for the additional posts and comments.

I did the grill and headlight rings last weekend - got the tape for this week; blackout for door handles (including barn-door handles) & side vents coming, then it's on to the MINI emblems and the "Cooper" on the back. Also got the new "CLUBMAN" letters to paint but not sure where to put them now that my vanity plate's coming - it's "CLUBMAN" too I'm thinking about putting the CLUBMAN letters at the base of the club door.

Personally, I wish I'd never seen a car with blackout. Every time I detail mine (which is every weekend) I think about how good it will look with the chrome blacked out. I know that once I start, I'll be in deep trouble with the wife.

Maybe if I do it a little at a time, she won't even notice. Of course, she'll see the checking account diminish.
