I prefer carpet mats - which to get?

Dealer sounds like they won't throw them in, so I suppose I should consider my options before paying for theirs.

Grey/Black Leatherette interior, Anthracite headliner, fluid silver dash.

I prefer the richness of carpet as I'm trying to create more of a luxury/GT look.

My dealer gave me a set of black Mini carpet mats and I like them. That must be a real cheap a$$ed dealership that you are dealing with, especially since you are purchasing all those extra goodies. I would threaten to cancel the order if they didnt throw in a set of freebee carpet mats.

I quite like the grey pinstriped ones which would go nicely with your fluid silver dash.

Here they are, http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=5277

For general fitment and that spiffy MINI logo, I'd just get the carpeted OEM ones.

I have the OEM carpeted mats, and they're very poor quality. Your money would be better spent on good quality custom-fit aftermarket mats. I also have the OEM rubber mats, and those are very good quality. If you do a thread search you'll find similar discussions and recommendations for aftermarket mats.

+1 for the rubber mats.

Cleanup very easily with a scrub brush and some soap and water. 10 minutes, your floor looks showroom new again...

The carpet mats have a backing that falls apart quickly, and can make the carpet underneath kinda nasty, which means frequent vacuums. If you must have carpet, go aftermarket.

I was also disappointed in the quality of OEM carpet mats. I wish I'd gone JCW or aftermarket. The mats are really thin and should be free anyway.

Have you asked them? Here's what I did, I e-mailed my MA and said "since I'm getting all of these extra options, can you possibly throw in the floor mats". She had no problem including them. However, if you don't ask before you get to the dealership to pick up your car, it will be less likely that they'll include them.

The mats are somewhat thin but aren't of any less quality than the mats I had in my 2005 RX-8, or my 2001 Jeep, or my 1992 4Runner . I do agree that they should be free.

Huh...My 1999 Sentra and my '96 Audi (as expected) had much nicer carpet mats.

RUBBER...... definately!
They're less expensive but mainly will last longer & look better.
If you MUST... cocomats are great.
cocomats.com (I think that's their web site).

Cocomats FTW.... expensive but worth it for me... always look great, hide dirt, easy to clean, all-weather and will last practically forever.

Of course!
I was expecting at least Sentra quality mats from BMW/MINI.

OK, let me put it this way then. The mats are adequate, if they are free. I certainly wouldn't pay (close to $100) for them. If it were a choice between having to buy MINI mats and buying aftermarket, I'd go aftermarket.

...but they are still on par with mats I got for free in my previous 3 vehicles

I agree. I bought the oem carpet mats for $100 when I bought the car. They're just "OK", not worth the price by any means. Cocomats are worth the price, maybe $30 more. Wish I'd sought advice here before I paid $100 for mine.

How long did you guys have to wait for your cocomats? I have been pushing a month. They said that they make them to order and it usually takes about three weeks. I have sent them 2 or 3 e-mails asking the status and they have not responded.

What type of experience has everyone else had?

Paul

I'm assuming you're talking about cocomats.com (Natural Auto Products). That lead time sounds about right. They might be SWAMPED right now as they've had some recent auto magazine press... but Jeff was always responsive via email to me. If you're concerned, call 800-461-3533 -

but "about three weeks" and "pushing a month" sound like about the same timeframe to me...

Just got them tonight and I have to say that I am impressed. I cannot believe how heavy they are. Absolutely no comparision to MINI dealer floormats.

They really make the interior look great. I can see now why they are so expensive. They fit perfectly.
