Getting tint tomorrow. Opinions?
Tint is getting installed tomorrow. Here's what's going on. Let me know if you've gone another route, and how you like it.
Rear 3: 10%
Front Sides: 35%
Sunroof: 5% Limo
Think it'll look ok?

I would love for people with tinted MC's to throw up some pics in this thread to help everyone out.
I have 20% all around. I know its not legal but I don't think the police enforce it, at least not around here. Looks great and you can still see through it very well at night. Personally I would go 20% or maybe even 35% on the sunroof. Even with the lighter shades on the sunroof it will still block the radiating heat from the sun as well as the 5% and you would have the benefit of more light in the cockpit. Of course if you want it to be super dark in there then by all means Limo tint that roof. my .02
I don't own a MINI yet...but my Jetta has 15% in back, 35% in front and I love it. The city I live in has cops that nitpick over small things (hey it's a small town) and I've never been pulled over with that combo (the states legal limit is 35%). I attribute it to the fact that my front tint is legal and since they can see me they let it go.
My brother has the same tint combo on his car and he likes it.
To each his own...but I am planning on doing the same when I get around to purchasing a MINI! If I could get away with a deep tint all the way around I would...but I don't mind the contrast and it keeps me from getting tickets and having to take the tint out (like my neighbor has to).

I'm starting to think that 10% may be too dark for the rears.
I remember my 4Runner had 35% on the back, stock..and it was plenty dark for me. I suppose 20 on the backs, 35 up front would be alright.
*sigh* Too many decisions.

Hi,
I've got 18% on the 3 rears and 45% on the front 2 and 18% on the windshield visor area. For me 5%-10% was tooo dark.

This last picture doesn't really show the contrast between the 18% and 45% very well.

I have always had 15% on my cars but the shop I took my Audi to only had 10% or 20% so I got 10% (rear and back seat windows). Now after putting up with it for 3 years all I can say is I think 10% is too dark for practical purposes at night and really wish I drove off to find a shop that did 15%.

I would just get 35% all the way around. If you do any kind of driving at night you will have difficulty seeing out of the car. Especially if you have to back up. I would just want to have a nice even color for the glass instead of some dark and some light. Good luck.
Yup...I went with 35% all around...but I don't have any pics to show you. I thought it would be too dark, but it's just right. Pluse I live in Cali so any kind of tint on passenger and driver sides is illegal...though a lot of people get away with 35%. Just don't drive like an idiot in front of cop, and they don't really mess with you.

I prefer the look of the same tint all the way around. We have 20 percent on our two Coopers and that's the perfect amt, IMO. Keeps the heat out in the summer, allows good visibility, even at night, and gives that nice, dark appearance.
And instead of tinting the sunroof, do a vinyl graphic !! Blocks out the sun and heat and give you an opportunity to be creative and express yourself.

Do you have a link for vendors?
Just go over to the left side of the page here on NAM. Find the link that says "Vendor Directory".
There's several listed there. My personal favorite is Aesthetic Creations. Mike, the owner, has done dozens of graphics for me. He's done zillions for members of NAM and is a MINIAC himself.

I have 13% tint all around (cept windshield)...and I love it. It looks more like a 20% to me, but what do I know. It's nice and dark, but I can still see out at night, so it's perfect. And it just looks so great on a black car!
I had 35% on my old car, and it was ok, but I always felt it was too light. Especially here in sunny AZ.
I will try to get more pics that show the tint accurately but here is one to keep ya busy in the mean time:

She's been at the tint shop for a few hours and I'm already experiencing separation anxiety!
They should be delivering it back to me around 3pm!!
I toyed with 35% all the way around, but it just seemed REALLY light. We held some samples up to the glass and it really didn't seem as dark as I saw in some of the pics on the forum. That said, I took a gamble and we're going with 20% all around.
I might be ripping the front tint off the first time I have to drive at night.

Then again, we can't get tint on the front windows where I live (Illinois) so I went with 30% in the back only. It looks dark from a distance but I can see out fine.
Just got it back.
I'm glad I went with the 20%. I was waffling over the 35 and I can now say that it definitely wouldn't be dark enough.
Looks GREAT. Now it's time to lose the wheel gap...and chrome.
