Summer's almost over, so join the Mini Motoring Club of the Carolinas for one last cruise through the mountains before school starts. We're meeting in the parking lot at Pleasant Ridge County Park just north of Greenville and will cover some great MINI roads on the way up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are more fine roads on the way back down to an early dinner at the Haus Heidelberg in Hendersonville, where the owner is not only a Certified German chef, but also an enthusiastic MINI owner.

Pleasant Ridge County Park is on S.C. 11, 2 miles west of U.S. 25; between Traveler's Rest and the N.C. state line. We'll meet and greet about 1:30, then take off for a relaxed drive to dinner.

This event is sponsored by the MINI Motoring Club of the Carolinas, but we welcome anyone who'd like to participate. If you're planning to come (and we hope everyone is), let me know here or at ljohnso@aol.com so that I can give an accurate head count to the chef.

See you there!

LJ in NC

LJ,

Put me down for two for dinner. My better half and I will be doing something that weekend and right now, we're planning on coming up. I don't have it in stone, yet, but we'll likely be there.

Thanks,
JS

Those of you who have FRS radios, please bring them to the drive this coming Saturday. Communications is good, and up in those mountains you can't count on your cell phone.

We'll be communicating on channel 7, sub 21.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all for a great drive and dine.

Oh dannnng....I had to be nosy and peek at this post and now I'm sorry that I live in Michigan. I'd give anything to be down anywhere near Skyline Drive right now

Trainman, FRS radios are walki talkies. You can get them anywhere now a days like CompUSA, Radio Shack, etc.. Try a search on Yahoo shopping search for "FRS radios" for best prices. Wish I could Join you guys.

Think positive thoughts: "It won't rain Saturday!" And if it does, maybe it'll reduce the number of tourists on the road. It'll be a good time either way.

Ok you're making me feel soooo bad for missing this run!!

Hope everyone enjoys the day, and the weather holds for some great roads.

LJ, I'll be back into town on Monday, so I'll get the run down then.

Trainman, I have 2 FRS radios I'll be bringing.

However, I can't figure out what sub 21 is. There are only 14 channels on my FRS radios, so they'll be on channel 7.

I think the sub 21 is a squelch frequency or a sub frequency of channel 7. May I borrow one of yours?

Wow! That's a fine place to meet, beneath the world-famous peach water tower. It is impossible to miss.

Sure, Trainman, that's why I mentioned that I was bringing 2.
