My Blackstone Oil Analysis

Hey all,

I just thought that I would share my test results for my first Blackstone oil analysis. You can view it through the attachment.

I've been keeping up on the other analyses that other people have posted for their R53s, which help me determine that a 'tween oil change between computer calculated intervals might be a good idea.

From what I can gather from other reports, and from what I have seen from my own report, the factory Castrol 5W-30 seems to generally be good for about 10k miles for the R53.

FYI, I used Royal Purple 5W-30 for this last oil/filter change, and plan to run it @ 7,500 miles to see how it compares to the factory oil.

For a bit of history, my '05 MCS JCW had @35k miles on it and 7500 miles on the oil itself at the time of the change/analysis. Before this, I kept to the computer's calculated intervals for the first two changes, which were done at around 10K & 27K miles. I had the JCW kit installed at around 19k miles, followed by a stringent second break-in period (was tough enough to do the 1st time around!). I am not sure if they changed the oil when the kit was installed. I generally put 4k a year in road trip miles, and for other times, my driving is split about 60/40 for freeway/city driving, respectively. I usually shift between 3-3500 RPM, but I'm not to afraid to gun it when I need to!

Thanks to everyone for sharing your experiences and data that you have collected! NAM is AWESOME!

Looks good.
Will you be running 10k on current oil?

My Blackstone Oil Analysis

In reference to your comment about an oil change at the time of the JCW installation, the answer is no.

They, Mini Dealerships, do not do it at the time of installation unless you have specifically requested it.
It would be listed as a separate charge on your work-order / invoice if it was done.

Hope this helps...

Cool...thanks for the info

After my next 'experiment' of going 7500 miles with Royal Purple, 5W-30, I'll probably stick with around 10k miles between oil changes.
