Order is in...

So i just got back from Ottos MINI in PA after putting in my order. 08' MCS Laser Blue/Black. So what are the next steps? Obviously waiting time, Chad (sales manager) suggested mid to late July. I have my Prod. No. and I know that I can log into the owners lounge some how and follow the progress.

Anything else I should know?

BTW, Chad and the team up at Ottos are awesome, if you live near Philly, in any direction, make the drive to Ottos and you won't regret it.

Go to the newbie forum and search on tracking. I found it fun -- my wife said it was an obsession -- to track the progress of the MINI once it left the factory.

You can Google the factory. It's in Oxford, England. Cars leave from Southampton, England on boats. If you get into the tracking threads now, you should be able to track it from the dock, out the Thames, across the Atlantic to the port of debarkation. And you can use Google to get pix of the ship that brings your baby home.

congrats on the order!!

here is a good thread on how to track your MINI

before it's over you will be best friends with the number 1.866.ask.MINI and will have your production number memorized. i know i did.

have fun tracking!

The owner's lounge is always days to a week or more behind. Memorize the ASK-MINI number. They expect you to call at a time like this. They have details, also, that will not show up on OL and they are current to within a day.

Congrats DChap on the aquisition of an R56 MCS!

Now begins a new phase of your journey into MINIdom... The Wait!

Patience, my young Jedi... You must have patience. Remember, that good things come to those who wait. The pleasure comes from the anticipation of what lies ahead. Your LB/B MCS will be with you soon...

Oh, do not forget to post pics when your MINI and you are united.

Enjoy & Motor On!

But the need for patience increases as things you can track closely begin to happen. Remember, Einstein showed us that as things speed up, time slows down.

well i discovered the owners lounge will indeed work on a mac, it just warns you that it won't, and you have to skip around it, no biggie.

Anyway, you guys are no help.... you are making me want it now, omg this is gonna be a long *** wait.

You said a mouthful. But at least you've placed the order - you could still be thinking it over.

healthy enough but i don't really want to divulge into it. put it this way, it pays off to have a good business relationship with your local dealership, the more cars you, family or referred friends buy the more they like to help you out.

really? I'm looking at the book now... ok so now i understand why it takes 6 weeks, because the first two weeks they know you will be calling to add more great stuff onto the original order!!

How do you feel about the additional front lights?

The front fogs are included if you buy and S. If you mean the dealer added driving lights, they are an expensive option. I spent the $500 on other things I wanted.

You may or may not have two weeks. It depends on where your ordered car is in the production cycle. I ordered on a Saturday and wanted to make an addition [the rear fogs] and called first thing Monday morning but I was too late.

You can order most anything in section five of the configurator up until you take delivery, such as the driving lights. These are dealer/port installed options. Anything that has to be done at the factory must be added prior to it being set for production since they start barcoding the parts for you production run.
