Oil change tips help

I just hit 13,000 miles on my 2004 S and ready for the secound change .The dealer wants 380.00 plus tax. Can someone tell me what type of oil and if it easy enough to do myself? Is there anything else that needs to be done @13,000 miles.Cabin filter?

Thanks in advance CD

Oil Change How-To, found in the How-To Sticky inside the 1st Gen, Drivetrain forum.

I'm not too sure on when to change the cabin filter, but go ahead and pull it out. If it looks dirty to you, replace it. Wont hurt.

BTW, Welcome to NAM! Only 13k on a 4 year old car?! Time to get Motoring!

I bought the car 5 months ago with 8,000 miles on it , I also own a 1965 Austin cooper pick up.

Change it yourself it's easy as pie. I use Royal Purple oil and a Bosch filter from Autozone etc, total cost under $50.00.

The filter "can" sometime is a PITA..
My sugestion is to do a test fit with NO FILTER just to get used to the feel of screwing the cap back on .

Use your fingers to feel the alignment of the cap...
