Dealer Sticker

So I picked up my Mini Monday and the dealer put a little sicker on the boot with their name on it. I just pealed it off and its a little sticky/discolored there. What can I use to remove it?

Thanks!

WD-40 it's great for removing sticky or glue.

WD won't mess up the paint? Just a bit on a rag?

WD-40 works great as bug and tar remover, also sticker goo. Just spray it on a rag or on the paint and it should come right off. Detailing clay (with a lubricant), polishing compounds and wax may also work. If you use bug & tar remover or WD-40, it will take off the wax in addition to the foreign goo.

take it back and ask the dealer to remove the goo.

Next time, have it removed before driving off. (unless they are paying you advertising fees of course).

If not, goo gone, wal mart $2.

If that doesn't work - 40 grit with a belt sander

I wouldn't have accepted a car (any car) with a Dealer's Sticker on it!! I paid $28,000 for a MINI...MINIs don't need to advertise!! Since you've already taken delivery I'd take it back and have them remove the sticker!!

Mineral spirits or white gas (camp stove fuel) since they have little odor. Rewax affected area.

Or a hammer and chisel.

If you are nervous about using liquids, sometimes you can remove adhesive with masking tape. The adhesive tends to sticks to the adhesive on the tape more than to the paint. So, if you work at it, tape will usually work. If GooGone is OK on the paint, it would be faster.

advertising

Reminds me of the "coat of arms" plaque MINI of Sterling now installs - it looks ridiculous. I peeled it off because, I agree with others here, I don't want to advertise anymore than I have to - I removed their license-plate holders too.

I agree. I would not have taken delivery with it on there. Cincinnati MINI only puts a license plate frame on. Taking it off was the first "mod" I did.

The same thing happened when we bought my wife's SportTrac. There was a big ole "Beechmont Ford" sticker on the back. I refused to sign the paperwork until it, and all traces of it were gone. They said they couldn't take it off with out damaging the paint so we walked. We got a voice mail an hour later from an angry Sales manager saying we had signed a "delivery promise" and it was legally binding and alluded to legal action if we didn't take delivery.

My response was showing up at the dealer a few hours later, in the new SportTrac [sans deealer sticker] that we bought from another dealer and told the sales manager to make sure he spells my name right and has my address correct when he files the suit. We never heard from him again. With a delaer network like that it is no wonder the "Big 3" are having the sales and financial issues that they are.

[callahan steps off his soapbox]

That's why I made sure to ask my MA to not install anything dealer specific unless it was just a license plate holder... In writing before my car was at the dealer... I have to say, while other things didn't go well, my car had no decals on it.

I just wrote the Manager of Habberstad a very long email in response to congratulating me on my Mini. I included how rude my MA was the sticker and a small scuff i noticed. Hopefully I get a resolution on all 3.

The only way to get through to them is to hit them in the wallet.

MINI's best advertising is all their/our cars motoring everywhere!

Best advice is to have it written on the contract - no decals!
