Is it possible to have the JCW exhaust and Alta downpipe? has anyone done it? if yes, hows the performance?

The thing is you'd be running the 3" down pipe into the way more restrictive stock system. Maybe Adam can shed light on the matter.

Why would you spend 4x what's necessary to gain 15 HP then throw your warranty away by installing an aftermarket downpipe?

JCW exhaust is nothing more than a different muffler. So you would be going from a 3" passage at the turbo, to the stock 2.25" exhaust. no real benefit.

However, replacing the cat-back would produce some nicer results.

Dang...Stock MCS is only slightly smaller...So the gains versus stock are probably non-existent? Just a meaner sound...right?

I see. How about replacing it with the magnaflor custom setup, will there be good gains or just sound effect? I am just looking at alternatives to the Alta catback.

I'm a little confused. What are you trying to achieve? If you want a new exhaust on a budget going to an exhaust shop and having a custom system installed is the way to go. Pretty much any beneficial exhaust mod will result in replacing the JCW muffler.

You could do the Alta downpipe with the JCW exhaust and it would make a difference. The most restrictive area in the exhaust system is the cats. That said, you would reduce the benefit by going from a 3" downpipe to a 2.25" pipe. I'm not sure you'd gain even 15HP. You may impact your warranty. It's a total grey area. You did pay extra money to go the JCW route and protect your warranty (so far)...

I'm not sure anyone has done it. PM Adam from Alta on that one. We've just talked about it before on NAM.

I agree the part would make a nice difference on the JCW car, not void any warranty issues (since our warranty would take over where that one removed left off) and not increase noise a lot. Would play well with the JCW programming.

I think that is a solid idea to better utilize the JCW package.
