[Hawaii] Track on Oahu can happen but we need your support
For those that have been following the drama on FH's Track section, you already know about P24; however, for those that don't, P24 is a parcel of land [in Kalaeloa (formerly Barber's Point NAS)] that the original SORT leased from DHHL to build a temporary dirt track. SORT has broken into two entities - SORT and the Souzas (wife/husband along with Les "dirtracer") and S.O.R.T., LLC and the Graces (Junior and his wife). In a nutshell, the Graces control the lease on the property now and the ensuing drama on FH has occurred due to this. Jr is working with the folks who run OMAC/DriftSession/SuperLap/HawaiiTalks/FormulaHawaii/etc. to fast-track the possibility of having a race track (both dirt and street) on Oahu. I went to a meeting last week and met the key personnel (along with Ed H. of SCCA) and heard what they had to say.
Outside of auto-xing at Aloha Stadium, I truly feel that P24 is our only hope to get to race again on Oahu. If you want to stretch your MINI's legs on a real track, please take the time to show your support. The support letters are needed to convince the power's-to-be to release more of the land around the current P24 so ALL entities (drag, drift, karts, moto-x, mud bogs, etc.) can eventually race. In the past, many MINI folks have showed their support by sending in testimony, signing petitions, waving signs, and what-not, however, this time it's for real..........there is land, there are designs being laid-out, there is someone fronting the money.........no more wishing for a track, this IS IT!
Mahalo ahead of time for your support!

It's not specific to a few people...it's our entire family of racers, drifters, draggers, dirt racers, etc. that will make or break this facility.
For those of you that have attended the meetings we have held and continue to hold, you may remember that we discussed this very issue. And you may remember what we need to make this happen.
We need letters of support. Tons of them. Enough to swamp the politicians in a sea of paper. I would like to have a nice, thick stack of support letters thrown on a few people's desks by the time the Build The Track! Motorsports Show rolls around.
If you want a racetrack, if you want to drift, drag, road race, go-kart, dirt track, whatever again, legally...then you'll take 5 minutes out of your day, and write a letter of support in YOUR OWN WORDS. Take pen to paper and support the developer and our efforts to make this happen. Not an email, as those get discarded and overlooked very quickly.
Please write a letter of support in your own words using the attached letter templates and mail it to:
Michael J. Kitchens (OMAC)
2033 Beckley Street
Honolulu, HI 96819
You may also fax it directly to:
Fax: 259-8421
Here is the request and sample letters:
OMAC Support Letter
Sample Support Letter
Make sure your letters are addressed to no-one, as they will be grouped, copied, and sent to the appropriate responsible agencies needed to make the facility happen. Also ensure that your full contact information is included within the letter. I will post some templates here for you to follow.
Unity = The majority of the motorsports community standing behind this project. Not specific people.
Be a part of the solution, not the problem.
