Aftermarket pads and OEM rotors - no maintenance coverage?

My MA told me that if I replace the pads (to reduce dust) that the rotors are no longer covered by the maintenance plan. Seems when they replace the brakes, they do them as a set and have to return the whole set to MINI...

Is that consistent with what others have found?

I guess I could wait until my first brake job is necessary, get the new rortors, and THEN swap the pads...but my new white wheels may not last that long

Can't you spray the rims with some kind of protectant? If not a commercial product, how about PAM...??

It will make keeping them clean easier....but you will still have to wash them a bit....

That makes perfect sense to me. Rotor wear can be very closely related to pad compound, once you move away from OEM pads rotor wear is completely your responsibility.

Jason is right, the good news is that the Carbotech pads are the only pads on the market not using iron, which wears rotors faster, so you can get many more miles out of your OEM Rotors with CT Pads. PM me for more details.

When the dealer had my car in for its brake service, they replaced all of the pads and all of the rotors. This was a 2006 w- approx 15k.

if you go with the carbotech they make vary little dust. in a week you will have more dust on your tv then on your rims. so i recommend you go with the 1521 street pad and your rotors + pads will out last any thing uyou get oem

I'd store the OEM pads , and if issues come up , swap them back in
