I was on my way to work today. I look in my rearview and see an Mini heading towards me. I look closer and see its no a MCS or at leas thats what I thought. As he passes I look over and see a "S" on the side. I am confused now there was no hood scoop.

Then he gets by me and "gasp" it has fart pipes pointing at 45° outwards and rearwards. No longer utilizing the center cutouts.

2 Questions

- DId the S ever come with out a hood scoop?

- Was this exhaust an aftermarket one of a custom fabbed ricer version?

The MCS always has a hoodscoop. It is pretty easy to get "S" aftermarket products so it is possible that they were just using the badge. You could buy the chrome side grills from RSpeed. As for the "fart pipes" I got nothing.

 

The exhaust came out sideways? That might of been a really early exhaust that came out for the MINI, I've seen it on some coopers before. Its really ugly IMO.

anyway, what I wanted to say was it could have started life as an S or as a cooper, but the owner obivously modded it to suit him, one mans side barrel exhaust is anothers cooperflag.

That same day I saw a NSX with fart pipes too. Whats the world coming to???

 

Did the NSX have a bad cheap looking exhaust? If it did then yes I agree what is the world comming too. But if it had a cool looking/sounding exhaust then that would be awesome!

.....in the quest to have the ultimate personalized/performance/stylized car there will be a few hits and a whoe lot of misses. a long time ago ('80s) it was unheard of to have 16inch rims, too rice. now 17inches is normal.

Yes they were your basic Reactive fart pipes welded to the stock exhaust. Those too were angled out at 45° angles. A car like that should not be treated that way. I feel the same way about the Cooper there are lots of aftermarket choices.

 

Definately sounds like a muffler shop fab job to me, havent seen anything that dumb made for any car.

Hey orbhot. I kinda like that last one, from that angle at least. It's not that ricey, but then again it is a body kit so...
