Attitude check

It has come to my attention for nearly the last two years how polite the contributors are on an "Across The Pond Forum". The contributors' attitudes and respect toward each other is extremely refreshing and enlightening in comparison to the myriad of threads reviewed on several Western Hemispheric Forums". Though I must say that I gleen far far more information of economic and technical value, due to locale, from the W.H.F's, I am convinced that I would not be lambasted far less with attitudes learned from my former employer on controversial issues of interest expressed on a W.H. F. "Can't we all just get along?'

Not sure I understood your penultimate sentence, but have to agree with what I think is your general point. This forum hosts folks that act like grown-ups.

Gee I'm really not sure if we've just been insulted or complimented. In any case, we'd appreciate an apology for 1812 ...

Well, it is a Mini/MINI and they are essentially fun little cars. Seems we should be able to keep a somewhat cheery outlook given the circumstances.

And, if you don't act like a grownup, you are out of there.

The pond forum has moderators in Germany, England, Ireland, Canada, Australia, Sweden, the US and Mexico, just to name a few off the top of my head. 24 hour coverage, due to the span of time zones, and the long hours put in by the mods and Paul Mullett, the founder.

8 Moderators from the US, that I can name off the cuff.

Which sentence was the penultimate one? And which one is the ultimate?
And, yes, I think that was a compliment buried in that post. If so: Thanks! If not: Bummer, dude.
Oh, and jkling17- 1812 is over. It's time to move on.

True enough. Ah well - time to do some expense reports - anything to keep occupied while waiting for the MINI to arrive ...

Well, despite my thought that you know the answer, the ultimate is the last in a series; penultimate is the next to last. The punctuation is a bit ambiguous, isn't it? The quotation is technically the last sentence, but it was likely meant to be part of the previous (the penultimate) sentence. Unfortunately, the use of a full stop makes it hard to know.

Now, about 1812 I must agree. But 1815, well, that's a year to remember, wouldn't you agree?

buzzsaw - boy, am I confused. What's an "across the pond" forum, and to which western hemispheric forums are you comparing this "across the pond" forum? I'm just not clear whether NAM forum members are being complimented or criticized. Maybe I'm just tired...

MINI2.com which was founded and owned by Paul Mullett in the UK. It is the oldest of all MINI enthusiast sites (Beats NAM by 2-3 years) and has a global concentric audience. It seems that the majority of traffic comes from US posters that for one reason or another do not like or post here in NAM.

Paul sold the site last year to Internet Brands, I believe the same company that purchased NAM from Mark Ferguson.

ClubmanS - Thanks, that was very enlightening. The other confusing term was "western hemispheric" forums. I hope that buzzsaw realizes that most of the U.K, including about 2/3rds of London, is in the Western Hemisphere. This begs the question, are Eastenders more polite? Mind you, this is merely a gentle correction of a minor geographical gaffe.

Actually, I think MINI2 was launched online in January 2001 and MCO/NAM was launched in January of 2002. There are many folks who are members of both sites.

Didn't know Paul sold MINI2 to IB -- interesting!
