Did some research in getting my Mini from NY to CA...figured I'd share, I'm sure there are others out there who will need the info.

Thanks for the info! I guess my quote for 1500 enclosed from OH to CA wasn't too bad. I don't know who the transport company is though.

I had my MCS shipped from NY to CA using Dependable Auto Shippers at http://www.dasautoshippers.com.

I used their enclosed service, had them pick my car up at the dealer and then I picked it up in Carson at their terminal. It took a total of 6 days from pick up to delivery. It totalled $1761. Yeah, maybe that's a lot, but I didn't care. I just wanted my car and it was still cheaper than paying the mark-up in California. My car arrived in excellent condition and I would recommend them to anyone.

In a nut shell, I ordered my car from Keeler MINI in NY on 1/17/03, it was built on 2/20/03, arrived at the dealer late March and I picked it up on April 1st! Not bad.

Good luck on your search!

I used autolog at http://www.autolog.net/ They weren't that fast and the information provided was vague at best and the car took 10-days but it was delivered with no problems, nicks, dings and wasn't even dirty. Open carrier by the way. ~$830 from NY to AZ.

Have the dealer call for you and set it up. Dealers get a small discount. You can pay with a normal check since, as noted above, they're not that fast.

One suggestion: no matter who you ship with, crank your comprehensive deduct. as close to zero (if not zero) as you can get. As least if something does happen, the financial pain won't be yours.

Best of luck.
