R50/53 2004 r53 vs evo
Depends on who's race you're doing and how good the drivers are. Straight line: a lot. AWD will wreck an R53 off the line. Slicks and a very worked MINI may take an R53 but it's gonna take a lot ie-230+whp. A stock Evo will run a high 13. Twisties: not as much. A stock Evo will still pull impressive skidpad numbers, though. On a tight course, an R53 with an agressive sway bar and good rubber (read: R comps) could take an Evo if the driver can use the car properly. One way or another, good luck.
Or you could just do like I do and laugh at them trying to be all bada55 and end up looking like a tool in the end.
what kind of question is this? to *beat*? on a straight line? on a track? on canyon roads? on a chessboard?
most of the time, it take the evo not having any gas. the r53 beats the evo in terms of affordability

haha! Reprogram all those computers on the EVO to play chess and it would be a blowout.
To beat an EVO in a straight line, 230+whp, GOOD rubber, the suspension modifications to put the power down, and a damn good driver.
BUT, if you're interested in beating an EVO in a straight line, why do you have a MINI? Ya fast straight line MINIs are really cool, but its not their intended purpose.
In the corners its a different story. A MINI will stay right on an EVOs tail given a capable driver.

And funny! Could you imagine the sweat on the Evo driver's brow under his knit hat as you blow past him at the 1000ft mark?

i hear that you arent a race car driver so you shouldnt worry about "beating" other cars at anything. when you become an amateur auto crosser or drag racer in an actual class you wont need to go onto forums to figure out how you can beat people
ps street racing is childish, dont do it

I find evos with good tires and good drivers very difficult to outrun on the track. Maybe I suck, but these cars that are at the track are usually modified, and when they're driven aggressively, they repay the driver with lots of grip, and they pull like hell out of turns.
To answer your question, assuming the same driving skill on the same track, I think you'd need an LSD, a well set-up suspension, and some more grunt under the hood - maybe over 200whp.
I'd love to take an evo around a road course.

oh come on, ive been on forums like these for over 8 years
if he wanted to know if he could beat an evo on any type of closed course he would have said so, ill give the benefit of the doubt but im willing to bet that one of his buddies has a shiney new evo and he would love to go out and race him, i could be wrong but i doubt it

My old roommate had a Evo 8. and to be honest my R53 with a CAI and 15% pulley pulled his car 1st, 2nd, and most of 3rd gear...there is just so much turbo lag with the Evo's. if it were a high end (highway pull) type of race i know the Evo would saluter my R53 but in an autocross situation through twisty's and not very many straights the MINI will hang pretty good. just in to the straights. Street racing isn't worth it wouldnt try it..
I'd like to see a MINI go head to head with one of these in a rallyx. In an open staged rally, the MINI would have no chance but I wonder how it'd fair in the tight, slow curves of a rallycross against an Evo X.

Some of you are way to serious the only way i would even try is on a tight course and no i dont have a little buddy with a shiny new evo i was just wondering it was my first post next time i will put more detailed questions
My service manager races his Z4 from time to time and he knows TONS of rich guys in my area with some pretty sweet rides. He was telling me a few months back that this guy in a GP was beating Porche GTs around the track. pretty impressive. Im sure it was mostly driver ( most of the crazy rich guys cant drive their crazy expensive cars ive noticed ) but either way it was a bad day to own a Porche
I started this because i used to be a huge evo fan and a few months ago i went to buy one from a local dealer and the sales manager is a friend of mine and he told me to check out this other car he had he said that i would be happier with it when i first saw it i said ya right then he let me drive it he really let me drive it sold the evo was faster but the mcs way better to drive way more fun and dont get me wrong coopers arent slow
