R50/53 2004 r53 vs evo
I started this because i used to be a huge evo fan and a few months ago i went to buy one from a local dealer and the sales manager is a friend of mine and he told me to check out this other car he had he said that i would be happier with it when i first saw it i said ya right then he let me drive it he really let me drive it sold the evo was faster but the mcs way better to drive way more fun and dont get me wrong coopers arent slow
) and the guy who came over from Safelite said it pretty bluntly."Yeah the S's are pretty quick. But the plain Coopers can hardly get out of their own way."
No offense to the Justacoopers, but I'd have to agree.

Nice!
I would prefer a Crown Vic and the P.I.T. manuver, myself...
I love the Evo, would still be driving mine if I hadn't skidded into a railroad ditch last year. Then I bought an R56!
Without saying anything negative about the Mini, b/c I am a fan, I am only going to say that the Evo is a very capable car, capable of doing basically anything involving performance and doing it very well.
if you're looking for a fast autox/drag/track day/daily driver, the Evo is just that; it wears all those hats. It does not suffer from the "lag" everyone attributes to it, and it has an incredible suspension stock.
I like both cars, so no flames.

from a pull ive seen minis with the normal mods (intake, headers, exhaust, pully, and injectors) take STOCK evos/sti. BUT from a standstill were talking BIG money haha. Not to mention its rare for for an evo to be stock, and it doesnt take much for one to be put completely out of reach unless you go twincharge or something of that nature....

), and maybe a muffler. A lot of the people in my area in them are 18 and have the car because of daddy's money or are late 20's-early 30's business types who need the car everyday without the headaches of a modded car.
I have an Evo 8 and also an 06 Mini, there is not much they have in common.. the Evo has a GT35r shoved in it, so the 500+ hp and a the Mini is kinda an odd race.
the mini is not a Drag car, it's a small track car, the Evo on the other hand, handles the drag and alomst any track you thow at it.
lets face it.. the thing hangs with the big boys. the mini has another intended purpose,
I have taken them both to the dragon, the Evo when it was sorta stock and when it was modded, and also the Mini, they are both just as much fun, the Evo is more of a handfull at full power. and comes into streights at about 130 when the mini is not doing more hten 80!. so it might be faster just because of the streigts, but
you will have fun with both.. no matter what.

Yeah, one thing to remember, AWD does pull a lot of power at highway speeds. I actually see more stock Evo's/STi's than I do modded ones. Or if they are modded, it's usually a CAI, an RFL BOV (again!

I see lots of stock sti though
That's funny because I see more modded Scooby's here than I do Evo's. It's not uncommon to see a few nicely worked WRX's/STi's in a day.
haha, nice. My point was though, trying to beat an awd monster isnt hard from a roll but thats about all you will achieve (which I think is all hes wanting imo, and is pointless) and thats assuming its stock or close to it. but the cars are just on different levels so everything is possible its just what the goals are and how much money you wanna lay down. for the most part it will come down to the driver if you do get the car to that level. and it doesnt take a good one to throw down good times in an evo LOL
i was asked why do i think it was better i don't think the cooper is better or worse two totally different cars and i simply just cant to afford to drive an evo the cooper i think looks better and in SD where i am there is two kinds of racing 1/8 mile dragg or time attack i liked the time attack and would hope to start racing soon and look at the pic you dont see evo or sti like this
There was another novice, like myself, in a Cooper S that day and I was all over his boot in the turn complex and was aggravating the hell out of an M3, circa E36. Granted he was also a novice and blew my doors off in a straight line, but I was filling his mirrors enough that the corner workers gave me the flag to pass. (it was a silly sight, the "pass"
). But miserable, no way
I beg to differ. On my track day, a very accomplished MCS driver was hitting 115mph on both the front and back straights, I was hitting 102 on both front and back straights. Yes, he was faster, but I don't think that 13mph is miserable by any stretch of the word.

you have to rev the crap out of the car to get decent movement. I guess i'm just not used to "that slow" yet.
I'm missing just a daily driver acceleration of my old car. I know that on the track beating the hell our of the cooper I can be quicker than some people in more powerful cars but I don't plan on going to the track with this car because it's not what I bought it for.
I would've kept the old car if I wanted to still race.
its all up to what you want... if it were me and i could go back in time.. i would get a sti.. but thats just me.. i dont like mitsu and the subie engine is much better... but ya just wait for the new gtr to come out and buy that and beat everyone lol....
Well coming from a stock evo 9, I would say it would take alot to beat it. I ran a 13.4 stock at a mile high in Denver. As far as handling or road course it may be a different story? But lets be fair, 2 totally different cars.

For the money, EVO has much better seats and more grip from the electronic diffs.
Take it from the die hard Subaru fan.

Well, if you're consistently hitting 130 on the Dragon . . . you got bigger huevos than I
You can't top that Boxer "thrumble" from a 4cyl. standpoint. But, the WRX shows it's weakness around 300whp while the STi can stand 400+ and than some. The Evo (8, that is) still had the tried and true 4G63 which can both take a Hell of a beating and be built to take even more.

WRX is little more fragile. Mine has been through 2 trannys, 2 turbos and 2 clutches in 86k miles
Boom. No more 1st gear or 1-2 syncros.
If you read my mods, I pull on older stock 03-05 Evo's from 10-90ish; about 1-3 cars. Basically 15+2, Intake, header, exhaust, injectors, GIAC, and lighter wheels.
But my intercooler gets heatsoaked after a couple of WOT sprints; I can lose enough power to get pulled on in 3rd-4th, even with the water/alcohol sprayer on.
